This is why all trades should happen through Bartertown.
Bartertown is the largest, oldest trading site on the net for RPG's, Wargames, etc.
The staff is all top notch and trustworthy, with no ethical issues in their background.
The ref system is established and, in fact, something that other trade sites have mimicked.
If something goes wrong, and you have kept the proper proof, you have the complete support of the Mod staff in getting things straightened.

well at least you recieved thne army back, its not busted up or anything. And I DID message you telling you I didn't send it signature as it was $40 to ship and I had already spent over $400 to ship my nids (twice), ship your tau back, AND buy an army to get the tau back.

As I have stated before, this is the only trade I have had any qualms with. Best of wishes, I'll fix the nids and see what I can do. Oh and if you want another codex, I can send you one. i have a spare one lying around, even tho a few pages in it are torn.

And before you go complaining about money;

$300 worth of space wolves to my friend to get your tau back + $40 + $25 + $14... you think your out a lot? not to mention whatever nids I cannot salvage. While this was a bad trade for you, I will admit, it was FAR worse for me. I made the attempt to make things right, I told you I wasn't sending sig because of cost (seriously, I'm not made of money). If it wasn't good enough, sorry, at least I made the attempt. I got what you wanted back, your codex got ruined (sorry), and your out some shipping cost.

Be it to say I'll stick to buying stuff on e-bay and trading on RT... I haven't gotten a complaint on RT or BT.

How much YOU are out doesn't matter.
What it comes down to is that it's YOUR responsibility to make sure the package arrives to him in appropriate condition and, if it doesn't, it's YOUR responsibility to get it right.
Any costs you incurred are due to your own actions or inactions, and these associated costs are not factored in when figuring what the trade value was.

As little as Justin (Rogue Market, above) and I ever agree on ANYTHING, I think that he'd agree in saying that this trade would have gotten you a deserved negative reference if it happened on RM or Bartertown.

But what did you get in return? You will recieve your tyranids exactly as I did. Although that is not true about the tau.

You can send me a new codex if you'd like, but I would serioulsly appreciate your friend returning the bits he obviously discarded. CIB, conversion bits, namplates.(grey plastic circles made from engineering polymer, produced for GE they are made specifically to hold metal with glue alone. Retail value-$8.50 each)

I will ship the tyranids in return once I have recieved these items.

Columbus, Oh

you CANNOT post this on bartertown without repercussions, UNLESS that transaction started there..

Bartertown BTR's are ONLY for Bartertown Transactions.

I've never used BT and had simply assumed it was much like Dakka. I will be refraining from posting there. Thank you for the clarification.

We must again STRESS that 'Transaction Report' threads are a way for a user who has made a trade to report on how the trade went with another user. Only a description of the status of the trade and relevant information is allowed. Conjecture, insults, attacks, etc, are not.

Other users who have had experience with either of the users involved in this transaction are free to post details of their trades into this thread, but again, no conjecture, insults, attacks, etc are not allowed.

Besides these two types of posts, ALL OTHER POSTS WILL BE DELETED from this thread, so please DO NOT POST unless you have made trades with either of the two parties involved and would like to add your experience with them to the thread.

Big'Uns, that's not fair. You're going to hold his tyranids until after he sends you a few bits? If you got your army back, modified although it was, you can no longer hold onto his army. You'd be holding over $700 worth of models back because you're missing a few bits! The punishment doesn't fit the crime :(

It's true that Zid is already out a LOT of money over this. You should ship his stuff back now that he's shipped yours! Otherwise, I would be worried about trading with you :(. What if a description was just slightly off, or a bit missing, etc. Would you refuse to ship our your portion of the deal?

Someone on DakkaDakka sent me a CIB bit for free, and I ended up not using it. So I will pass it along and send it to you free, too! Then all you're missing are the nameplates and conversion bits, and you could go ahead and ship his army back.

Edit: Hopefully this post is O.K.! I have not traded with these users, but I am wanting to send a bit to Big 'Uns, so hopefully this is on-topic. If it isn't, any of the Swapmods can just let me know and I will edit or delete what is not allowed / relevant (or you can also feel free to edit it to make it right).

I think trades should happen on any dedicated trading site. Its those kind of sites that can do alot to help out people that have been scammed or are simply having problems getting all of whats owed to them.

I think even you Eric can agree with that.

Also, in an ironic twist on something you threatened to do previously, I'm going to make another promise.
If the package is not signed for, it will be returned to me. If it is returned to me, I will set out everything that is in the box of import and burn it. I will watch it go up in flames.
The video that I shoot of it will be posted to YouTube. I will email you a link, as well as post links to it in open forums.
Remember when you threatened me that, if I sent you anything, you'd burn it and send me a link to the video, Matthew? Well, this way, you'll get what you want (burned models), regardless - MagickalMemories

I just want to stress- people should stop giving the swap shop flak.
Its a hard game. Heh, I know your guy's oppinions its not as if I dont realize it.

Its just... Unless you really want it gone off Dakka. Its just a little extra to this site. A
s stated countless times there are alternatives (lol).
I dont need to point them out.

-------

Jin will be posting a quick guide, in which we at RM were able to write up - it is quite lengthy but it outlines some proper procedures for any party for trades and such.
On Dakka, RM bt wherever.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/260962.page

A new revised version is in its works - we are looking to expand on this guide to cover all ends.

Dakkamods will be stickying up the new reboot version fairly soon.

Just for future notes:

-Show and tell and describe every model and contents, and expect the same.

-Ship the items how you'd want to recieve them.

-Deal in smaller increments - don't go for a big hit army swap - until you established the other end is good.

Still imperfect, but its a good foundation. We have seen some high end - grand theft scaled to hit up mutliple individuals.

I was refering to how he should still insure safe arrival / condition of the package no matter what value it is.
