I have 3 special characters in my army but i've only written fluff for one so far:

Warsmith Praxiss is the leader of my iron Warriors Grand Company. He is a master of siege warfare and has a bloodlust to rival some followers of Khonre (indeed some think he is following the path of the Blood God already). He wears modifieed Terminator armour and prefers to fight with twin-lightnign claws. His armoru is enhanced by the addition of a full servo-harness which he claimed as a trophy after killing an Imperial Fists master fo the forge in single combat. he had the techmarines harness grafted onto his armoru and now uses it to make him even more fearsome in combat.

I've got a few "special" ones (I've actually written a name of the name of each (painted) soldier in my army), but I'll just do my Company Commander:

Company Commander Marinus:

Captain of a snow-based expeditionary force and refugee from the now-dead world of Sovi, he signed up for the Guard because he wanted to rise in prestige - he heard Adeptus Mechanicus teachings and agreed with them fully, and wanted to obtain mechanical augmentation in exchange for decades of service. "Who we are is but a stepping stone to what we can become", he once said, ripping off the trailer for M3 PC game Deus Ex 3. However, his time in the Guard has helped him understand that he takes pride in serving the Imperium, and he has led his battlegroup many times against Necron and Ork invaders. He is modeled defiantly firing his laspistol straight forward, while clutching his broken arm and cursing the frailty of human flesh. He rides a Chimera with an entourage of four of the battlegroup's plasma-gunners.

well, i got an ork character im pretty prowd of.

Gutrippa da 'Umiekilla: has killed the blood angels high librarian twice, killed over 40 'umies (imperial guard and space marines), has annihilated the force of blood angels (not by himselvf. he only took 1/3 of them), but has been struggling against those pesky raven guard (one of my big brothers army. i only won 3 of 10 battles).

Big Mek Crazygit (oy, dats me!): da Master Mek and the 3rd biggest ork in camp. he always works on something new, and made the arm on Gutrippa, but he paid back by ripping Crazygits arms off. since then, he was called ''dread arm'' for haveing a sentinel leg where the first arm should be and a deff dread arm on the other, but he had been more killy since.

'Oddball' Sutherland- 321st Emden Armor

Really mellow commander of a tank squadron. Took command after his old CO got decapitated by a railgun. Don't feel bad, the guy was always trying to get Oddball killed.

Used as a stand-in Pask when mounted on his LRBT or as the standard commander for my IG when on foot. (I've modeled him both ways)

I got a rather unlucky and big headed Bad Moonz Warboss called snotroc, who is famed for having a truck cursed by a ultramarines librarian after blowing up his land raider and using the plates to make it.

I have the trukk right here, it has a "bordin' plank" with "muddy boot prints innit'". He was part of the WAAAGH! that almost annihilated the crimson fists and is currently fighting in grogz dakka WAAAGH!.

He has a PK, three bosspoles, three ammo runts and a twin-linked shoota called the basha.

The original idea was of a LOTR goblin captain called snotroc.

He's still sleeping on his sprues. Though I have no use for mortars in my mechvet IG I'm going to eventually model a Mulligan, provided I can figure out how to make a short, fat Guardsman.

Here's Oddball for you though. His pants and armor are colored for my army. If I had a better hand I'd paint his armor corps badge on the left paldron. As it stands I'm still not sure what to do with his (or the rest of my force's) bases, which is why it's simply painted grey for now.

Actually I think this thread would be a bit cooler with a pic accompanying the epic heroes we're talking about here. Like the badass Warsmith Praxiss had put up a few posts ago.

Captain Mau'Vre.
The heroic captain of the 3rd Company of the Night Predators chapter (now destroyed). His overrall defensive combat style may not have won him nay battles, but he has survived even more.
During the last battle of the Night Predators as a whole chapter, when the Necron Phanlax lead by a mighty Nightbringer attacked the Night Predators Monastery, it was Mau'Vre who defended the western side of the Monastery with his 3rd Company. As the overwhelming mass of gauss rifle shots began to take its toll on Mau'Vres troops, he made the most heroic decision. He knew that the battle was already lost, the Eastern and Northern walls of the Monastery already destroyed, the few ThunderHawks of the Night Predators picking up the survivors to leave the doomed planet, Mau'Vre heroically began a duel with the Necron Nightbringer. Though he knew that he was not able to win the monstrous creature, he bought enough time for the rest of the few still alive remnants of the 3rd Company to evacute. Still to this day, it is unknown what happened to Mau'Vre. Many bealive that he suffered a heroic death in the hands of the C'Tan, his sould sucked by the Nightbringer. There are still evidences that Mau'Vre would be alive, namely his still unbroken helmet found near the ruined Monastery. Even this day, the remnants of the Night Predators, who joined Crimsom Fists as their own numbers were too few, are searching for him, waiting for the day when Mau'Vre makes a heroic comeback to lead the eternal battle against Chaos Gods.

I have 4 that stand out:

Vikaran 31st Stormhawks:
Colonel Gavin - the charismatic and heroic leader of the stormhawks has used his fiery oratory, battlefield command skills and crackling powerfist to slaughter his way through traitor marines, space wolves, tau and tyranids alike. Though he has fallen in battle several times he always rises like a phoenix to wreak bloody revenge in the name of the Emperor. Many Imperial worlds were saved from annihilation due to the well-timed intervention of the airborne Stormhawks, always led into the thickest fighting by Colonel Gavin and his stalwart bodyguard. Greatest in-game accomplishment, killing 3 chaos terminators and a chaos terminator lord in cc. Later in the same battle he killed four chaos marines and their aspiring champion though he was cut down by an obliterator in the last turn.

Sgt. Major Shepherd - As the grizzled, right-hand-man to colonel Gavin, Shepherd has been at the forefront of any of the ferocious short range combats that his company is known for. Leading the celebrated 1st squad he is responsible for holding many vital objectives against traitors, xenos and misguided loyalists alike. Like his colonel, he leads with a prayer to the Emperor and a curse to all xenos on his lips. He leads by example and with a healthy degree of intimidation to his men (think sgt. major plumbly in We Were Soldiers). His crackling powerfist has crushed his way through many of the toughest opponents in the wide galaxy. Greatest in-game accomplishment, cutting down 3 space wolf Grey Hunters in cc, then proceeding to run down the rest of the broken squad, then he and his last remaining trooper jumped into combat against the swiftclaw biker pack and he killed two more, breaking them and running THEM down as well. In another game, back in 4th ed, he and his squad were fighting the Eldar and were fired upon by a Dire Avenger squad using their whole mad-minute spray and pray attack then charged. In the ensuing combat he killed 3 of them and ran down the rest. I think that his opponents are afraid of him.

Exalted Judicator Icarius of the Iron Judges chapter
Icarius began as a simple assault trooper where with his chainsword and bolt pistol he slaughtered his way through traitor and xenos alike. Any foe that he and his squad met were cut to ribbons and scattered like chaff. Using melta bombs he blew treads and gunports off Land Raiders, Leman Russes, Wave Serpents and even a mighty monolith. Seeing his tactical acumen and ferocious combat prowess he was promoted to sgt. Leading a tactical squad and gifted with a power fist he continued to obliterate all foes around him. Though at the battle of Kuran Swamp his squad were slain to the man by the treacherous Eldar Icarius fought on to slay four howling banshees, two striking scorpions, 3 guardians, 5 dire avengers and even tore the head from a mighty wraithlord. At the battle's conclusion he was included into the chapter's mighty first company as a Terminator Sgt. His legacy grew there as leading elements of the first company he crushed tanks, monstrous tyranid creatures and tau battlesuits with his mighty thunderhammer. At the battle at Ghanem Refinery IV he lead the charge against a misguided Sororitas battlegroup and claimed the head of their canonness as well as 4 members of her celestian bodyguard. Finally when the captain of the first company died in combat against the foul Tau Icarius became their leader. Distinguishing himself in innumerable actions he was the natural choice to succeed as chapter master and has taken to the post with relish, Judging the impure and executing the wicked in the name of the immortal Emperor.

Dokta Zoom - A bad Ork biker boss leading his band of Evil Sun warbikers called Da Street Doks he has ridden roughshod over Imperial Guard tank legions, Adeptus Sororitas battlegroups, mighty Astartes drop troops and the fearsome gunlines of the Tau. In each he laughs raucously and screams his deafening WAAAGH! to Gork and Mork as he crashes into his foes, Power Klaw claiming heads and tank pieces as he goes. Greatest in-game accomplishment: Single Handedly taking out a Leman Russ Demolisher, two LRMBTs, 2 Sentinels and the company commander.

I have two. First off:

Shas'o Krai'la Kais Mont'yr - A sympathizer of Commander Farsight, he leads an expedition force for the Third Sphere from the sept world Krai'la. For years, he led his troops across battlefields in search of the lost O'Shovah, and finally found him on the frontlines of a war against the Orks. The two forces remain mostly separate, but occasionally cross paths in battle, usually with O'Shovah lending a helpful hand to Krai'la.

In game terms, my Commander has had numerous achievements that make him special. He's taken on 4 PF/SB Terminators in close combat (Over three rounds of combat, mind you) and won by wiping the squad out in a Sweeping Advance. During a game with Warp Storms in effect (Where things randomly warp out of the game) he managed to drop in just in time to save a Fire Warrior squad that was holding a point by wiping out two Obliterators. Finally, in a game fighting Grey Knights, he avoided being tank shocked three turns in a row by a Rhino, and then proceeded to punch it out with three 6s to penetrate the armor.

My other is a Fire Warrior who received his Shas'ui honors after a particularly good combat. What happened? A squad of Grey Knights charged my Fire Warriors through cover (With no grenades), and out of sheer luck, this young Shas'la sucker-punched one in the face, dropping him to the floor. Failed his armor save, and there was much rejoicing (That is, until the GKs fought back and caused them to flee on a lucky Initiative roll)
