Subject: What is the Most Moving Music you have listened to?
@Emp - Oh, it's absolutely not a bad thing, just interesting from a cultural standpoint that a notable percentage of music that people find moving comes from film. It's part of the changing face of popular culture, I suppose.
I wonder if the emotional impact of the music is as a result of the events on-screen, or vice-versa. It's an interesting thing to consider.
@Emp - I meant when played back, without the film - just the music. When you hear 'Adagio...' does it make you think about the events that take place in 'Platoon'?
- is that a reason for it's emotional impact?
Australia (Recently ravaged by the Hive Fleet Ginger Overlord)
Andrea Bochelli has many working that I have loved.
Just one of many.

No, actually. Not really at all.

Except of course No Country For Old Men. It is both an epic film and has almost no music at all.

Local Hero by Marc Knopfler -never actually seen the film, but I love this piece of music.
Firebird Suite - like Anpu42 my first reference was Fantasia 2000, but its a beautiful piece of music.
Rhapsody in Blue - also from Fantasia 2000, is another fave.
No idea of the name but I love the music that accompanies the train sequence in Spirited Away.
Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
Oogway Ascends from Kung fu panda is also quite a moving piece of music and has inspired a search of chinese themed music for me. (I've always liked Chinese music, just never actually looked for any before.)

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Should see my iTunes. It's been called positively eclectic
Think of it like this:
One minute you're walking towards some Journey...the next SLAPDASH--you've run into a wall of Mr. Roboto! Oh noes! Flee back to the safety of Jou...oh shi. You've encountered a wild Asia! Run from the Heat of the Moment!
I could go on, but let's just say Bolt Thrower, Journey, DKM, Flogging Molly, Asia, Styx, Queen, and Kansas make for one hell of a mix
