Clearly the ability to engage 7 different av 12 skimmers with str 8 or str 9 weapons will not take down said skimmers. Having 48 ablative wounds that need to be killed before those 7 heavy weapons are silenced is no good either. What was I thinking?

The problem is, the skimmers in question will most likely get the first shot in, and those said units are not hard to break either by death, morale, torrent of fire.

Then there is the possibility of cover saves.
Outflankers to lock down said units.

Can it work, yes. But it's a MSU army at which point has all the pros and cons associated with it.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
