Not to fond of the sternguard legs =/ makes the marines look like sentinels or something, I imagined the iron hands to be more subltle with thier bionics.

The GS hands look awesome! Exactly what the dread needed, and I like the studded pads too

small update:

did some work on my MOTF and finished another stern guard. I also added some bits to the other two, just so they fit the army a little more.

the MOTF is all scratch built.

The legs aren't done yet, they are just the plain termi legs. The torso also will have a crap load more done to it. the head is done, and the plasma cutter is done.

Also, I'm not sure how I'm going to do my commander's head... this guy is so cool looking (IMO)

Best, Klaus.

Thanks! I do rivets 1 of 2 ways. The first is by cutting a .030" diameter rod into very small pieces with an exacto. These are then glued on with rubber cement (or super glue if on metal) using the end of moist exacto the place it (the water creates hydrogen bonds between the rivet and the knife blade, holding it there).

The second way is the same as the first method, only I punch out a rivet from plasticard using a 1/16" diameter punch. This is then place first, with the smaller rivet glued on top.

Sorry it's so long between posts- this week has been hectic and finger injuries from converting stopped me from picking up my tools for a bit.

I'll show some of the recent work soon, hopefully tonight.

Also! I ordered an airbrush. Time to put all those fun techniques I learned to use...

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I also love the MOTF. Of course now that I've stared at him for hours while working (and have suffered several small injuries at his expense) he's far less cool looking to me. The cogs are really awesome- earlier in the thread I think I posted a link to where I got them.

Glad to hear it! I'm starting work on Varkuul, their Clan Leader, now. He's a stand in for Vulkan He'Stan with lots of mechanical goodness.

Flachzange wrote:Yeah, no kidding. You do some exceptionel work! That army should turn out quite nicely

I hope so! There's a lot more work to be done- luckily the painting should go a little faster with the airbrush I ordered.

oaktree wrote:Where did you get the etched brass cogs from?

The etched brass cogs were donations from the freebootaz over at the 40k Radio forums. Originally they came with the GW basing kits.

I'm very impressed with your work so far, it's beyond anything I could have done or imagined. I'm really looking foward to seeing your army all painted up!

Makes me wanna buy that space marine sprue of 3 and get to work!

Also, I really get the impression that your Marines could move by themselves with these elaborate gears, like something out of a Koo-Koo Clock.

The difference between commitment and involvement is like eggs and ham; the ckicken was "involved", the pig was "comitted".

Do it! You never know what kind of conversions you are capable of until you really go for it.

I've been considering it- I currently work as a freelance artist doing illustrations and concept art, but I might be interested in doing some modeling as well. I guess it depended on the model and the price.
