I belive you made it that way. why is it when someone makes an opinion based on their experiences do you have to try and say they are wrong i simply stated that i recieved a less than expected product YET i would be able to fix it and that i would CONTINUE to buy from them, This isnt a "lets boycott FW and GW thread" so dont make it that way. Everyone else has posting something somewhat useful yet you still continue to argue with everyone and try and say we are all wrong because we have an opinion. I think you have established quite much that you have yours so why cant anyone else be entitled theirs? Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright i agree so lets get back on topic. Has anyone else purchased the weathering powders? Automatically Appended Next Post: Changed the title to the thread as it did sound a little harsh. It wasnt all bad.

I havnt tried FW powders , and probably never will.
I have tried Mig Pigment and grounded art pastel sticks,
and they all work the same way , or atleast the result look the same.
So i'll be sticking with pastel powders.
BTW , if your mom or sister throws out their eye shadow kit , feel free to give that a try lol

No i mean the principle behind it are very similar , you can "smudge" them on the same way
as people brush the powder on.

The thing is, aside from Mr Animation here...
Resin is not something that you can just up and throw together.
Aside from the sheer homework that you need to do to just get started, you need to make sure you prep the resin, then file and fix, fill, shape, refit again, and put it together.
Its not something that a new guy can just pull out of the box, slap togehter like any other GW kit and throw down on the table and start playing. I bought a few things from them, and have had a couple of issues such as yours, but I was already aware of them and the potential issues that come with working with something as touchy as resin.
Honestly? You want to fix it?
Practice first by going and getting some of your own resin, and play with it a little.
THEN come back to the FW stuff, and go to work by mixing up a small batch for things like reshaping and filling. If you run across some holes or cracks, you have the option of using miliput ( Which to me is the best choice and quickest) or you can go ahead and use the small batch of resin to refill and possibly jack your models details up if you arn't careful.
you need to use the proper safety equipment and tools, and don't mess about without doing your homework on the FW stuff and resin in general before you just up and open the box and start going at it.
I'm sure others could give more pointers without being pogues about it, and personally I think you guys are being a little rough over something like this. Resin models are rough for first timers, and even moreso when you are given the impression of one thing, and it ends up a different case.
To the OP- Your frustation is understandable, but in time and with practice resin models are good and get easier with time and patience, and doing a few more then just going at one FW model and saying that they all suck from just one model.
Practice, practice, practice.
as to the powders- It is a little about the powders themselves, and its more to do with quality brushes and letting a little go a long way. stroke to the away, and dust it on the models so that they overcoat, and don't smudge. And....
Don't touch it.

One thing that I swear by when working with resin, Grot is Squadron's Putty.
Comes in different sized tubes and is a fething godsend for working with resin. It's nice to have something that you basically just squeeze a bit of it over the gaps/affected areas and then use sculpting/shaping tools to fix it.

Yes i am willing to fix it. I stated numerous times that it was fixable just a little annoying as they are very pricey. I have worked with resin before and have been modelling for many years and i too knew of the potential problems. It just got me that 2 products from 2 different companies one big one small arriving one the same day could have such a difference in quality.

lol RM , i'll tell you something that probably no one would believe.
I know people think i hate GW , but here is the truth about something.
For everything wrong i have ever bought / receive in their kits , i dont tell them to get free product or replacements. ( gasp how can this be? )
The first time it happend , yes i called and they sent me replacement for a $1 bit. But when i saw the stamped postage on it that says
$9 , i told myself never to phone them again EVEN IF ITS NOT MY MONEY.
Because i feel this is in a way contributing to how they price the products.
So yes im not evil , and im not out to get GW mr X

I can say from personal experience that I have had no trouble with Forgeworld products to date. I have ordered 2 Repressor kits complete with SOB doors and hatches, a set of Land Raider doors, and a Keeper fo Secrets. None of them had the problems other have mentioned. Maybe I'm just lucky, but 4 different orders and no issues doesn't make it sound probable.
That aside there was some minor warping that I easily cured with some warm water and elbow grease. I did not assemble my own Keeper as I felt it was far to delicate, the modeller I hired had no missing parts and had no issue assembling as I asked him after hearing a few apocryphal tales. Its quite fragile (as it has many spindly parts) but beautiful as models go. Handled properly though its the centerpiece of my Slaanesh army.

I tend to agree with Clthomps. Resin, if pulled to soon, is still warm and prone to warpage/bending.
My opinion is that when FW increased their product range, the chance of getting a less than perfect piece went up. Case in point, in the early years of FW, I ordered the Salamander kit for IG. Fairly thin walls and small details, the thing showed up perfect,no warpage or air bubbles, slid in with just a little sanding on the mold seam. Vanquisher turret was the same. Long barrel, absolutely straight, no problems, just a few small air bubbles.
My most recent purchases were a Hydra and Vanaheim Gunshield. 2 of 4 barrels had a twist/warp in them, and the gunshield was actually curled. Having worked with resin for custom molds, I have seen what happens when it cools under it's own weight, and that is exactly what those 2 pieces looked like. BTW, I did have them replaced.
I agree with OP, when paying for something at those prices, a certain level of quality is expected. I also believe that a bit of leeway is to be expected with resin, but there is a limit.

One you have it heated up you need to bend it slightly in the right direction (be gentle as those thin pieces might snap). You may have to repaet the rpocess a few times to get it take fully. If you just heat it up and let it go its not going to work. I'm certainly no pro at this but I got all my info fromt eh FW web site. Thats how I knew what to do in the first place. If its bent really badly then I would send it back. If its just a slight bend you should be able to work it out over time.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read in this thread.
What she described WILL cause a part to warp, if it gets warm enough.
I *do* have experience ordering from FW. Their packing is utterly horrible at times.

I had a Lucius pattern Baneblade once, she had a warped top hull piece, no matter what I tried I couldn't get it to fit. It snapped after a long day of careful heating and bending. I never got a replacement part. The certificate still hangs on my wall in a frame, goodbye my dear A1911, goodbye and farewell.
But, like any good addiction, we keep coming back for more-more-more because it's so good from time to time. Isn't that right Tauros Venators?

This thread is being put on timeout. There's been flaming, warnings, and it looks like the flaming is going to start right after a previous warning. However the casting advice is interesting so it may be worth salvaging.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."
