Man have i opened a can of worms lol. Its just simple things that can be changed that will solve the problems. By you saying they dont pay them enough to hunt for airbubbles. Maybe they should as i am sure some potential customers have been turned away do to the quality of some products. By helping the customers they help themselves.

It's irrelevant how?
You don't get to piss and moan about warped pieces if it's in a FAQ. It's even called " FAQs on Working with Resin Models".
It's common fething sense. I'm not sure what world you live in where common sense is irrelevant.

And i am not saying that its my way to get rid of them. There are many companies that work it plastics that utilize the vacuum process in the production of their products. And the amount of money FW gets for each order and how many orders they do get. You cant tell me that a little updating for the customers sake isnt do-able. And i dont really know if they are still using the same molds or not but a simple solution old molds that would be to make new ones.

rokitchikin wrote:So I just recieved my FW order yesterday in the mail. This is the first time i have bought anything from thm. I ordered all the weathering powders(happy with these), all three SW landraider doors, all three WH rhino doors, the sw venerable, a close combat dread arm, and an assault cannon dread arm. And honestly for the money i payed for them i am highly dissappointed with the quality. There are air bubbles on some of the fine details and i went to try and clean it up and it caved in on itself. As for the resin it is very very brittle. And not a single door wasnt warped. Does anyone know if i can reconsile this or do i just have to do the best with what i got? I know there are tricks like hot water and green stuff but im just dissapointed overall with the purchase. Artistry in the sculpts excellent, quality not so much. So how bout i get some of your guys opinions. Feel free to agree or disagree with my disgruntled rantings .

The problem is, as far as I know, that FW as its own entity barely breaks even each year. Covering the design costs, manufacturing upkeeps(and by the by--"making new molds" is part of that cost. But they can't constantly have their sculptors going back and updating their back-catalog...those sculptors are always working on *new* things. So they're, it seems, reduced to making copies of the old molds. Which has its own inherent issues--think of making a clone of a clone of a clone. The quality degrades over time), keeping a(very large, mind you) stock of items, etc.
Putting it briefly:
If FW was its own company, it would have gone under years ago.
And yes, there are many companies that work in plastics that utilize the vacuum process.
Those companies also aren't having part of their revenue being fielded to the parent company to cover storefront costs, warehouse costs, etc. Quite a few of the companies you mention outsource to plastics manufacturing plants in China. They send their molds over there, and they cast a limited run rather than warehousing enough of four or five different lines to last a year.

Yes , FW could fix the bubble via employing vaccuum machines.
@kawnluwen
But i just want to point out , that i feel those minor issues that people ask about can be easily solved
if FW dont just cram everything into a bag and call it "properly packaged" , remember that thread
where people asked about FW shipping cost? Quite interesting what others think isnt it ?

Im not talking about making a mold from a mold from a mold. They make an original sculpt. Make an inverse mold from that then they make a cast (usually a metal to prevent wear) that is 3 dimensionally identical to the finished product. An inverse mold is then made from that and all your little copies come from that inverse mold.

Volume of production and the quality of the mold itself deals with the prices/quality of the model.
It's easy to order a 'quality', cheap one piece resin model from some garage based company that gets maybe one or two orders a year.
It's a whole different thing to be ordering a piece that has been from a mold that's been used for production for(I think that the Space Wolves Doors have been in production since 2000 at least. I know I still have 2003 Spring Catalogs that have them available for purchase) almost a decade from a company that is dealing with thousands of orders a month.

Not sure what you're talking about, but it's not the first time I've seen random 'reviews' of products based on secondhand experiences on the forum. I wouldn't be surprised at all--especially given that some users here think that products received secondhand should be in "OMG AMAZING! BETTER THAN FRESH OUT OF THE BOX!" quality.
Which actually brings me to another point:
You don't get to whine about the 'quality' of a product after you've gotten it secondhand. You're getting nothing but a lame reassurance from someone that things are "a-ok".
You want quality? Buy things NIB.
You want cheap? Buy things secondhand.
But don't be fething surprised if you got what you paid for.

Wow kenluwan .... just wow. Let me clear something up for you since you feel the need to make a deal out of this.
Just so you get an idea instead of guessing. So here are the facts :
1) As much as i dont like FW's way of packaging things , im not going to say ( and i havnt said ) all their quality are bad. For example , personally i havnt ran into FW bubble problem.
However i'll say what is true , they are bent via pressure in the packaging. And if you feel you must make a big deal out of it as usual , so be it.
2) I love how you claim that i experience sub par quality because i buy them 2nd handed.
Here is the fact : I have bought FW items FROM FORGE WORLD and everytime , its above 250 GBP ( i rather get free shipping ).
Because you see , im a heretic , i find most fun in gaining money via buy and sell , compared to say painting , or gaming.
So please , try not to make claims that my product i receive are inferior ^^

By the by--they DO replace their molds every(I think the last time I heard it mentioned) 3 years.
The problem is that some products are more popular than others.
And when a new Codex is released?
Sometimes sales SKYROCKET of a product, and there's no real time to replace a mold.
So what Codex just came out a few months ago?
Something Wolves? Automatically Appended Next Post: Spell the fething name right or don't use it at all. It's not complicated, and you're always sending me PMs to whine about some perceived slight.
And as to your "experiences"--I doubt them period, because of who's posting them. Lil' Miss "I Hate GW Because They're Means!" has issues with GW products?
MY GOD! Call the presses!
"Bent resin", as I said isn't exclusive to resin. I've got metal models that have bent pieces, I've got plastics brand new from companies like Privateer that have bent pieces. Things bend. You get over it and fix them.
Try hammering out a bend in a Tamiya 1/35 Chieftain tank.
Did I mention the "bend" is in the rubber tracks?

I already explained this pretty well I thought...
A small "garage based" modeling company can POTENTIALLY get better quality casts due to several factors.
Not least of which is the fact that they just don't get that much volume of sales.
Compare the quality of "handmade" products versus "mass produced" sometime.

I just cant promise anything because Mr X. finds it his mission to confront me when ever i dont praise GW.
As you guys can see over and over again , he truly believe i have something against GW.
Which i dont. They are a company , profit is always #1 priority and i 100% accept that.

I'm not telling you "how to buy things".
I'm telling you exactly what anyone in the Better Business Bureau would tell you:
You have no leg to stand on complaining to the parent company about their product being an "inferior product" when you've bought a preowned product without visually inspecting it beforehand.
Hes already stated he HAS bought directly from the company. Also take a car for instance. By your logic if i buy a used car and a part is faulty or recalled i cant say that it was bad and it affected me negativily just because it was owned before me?

I personally have traded numerous times here and have been very honest in wat i was trading selling or buying. You cant tell luna to suck it up when there is a legit dispute. I dont find your need to argue constantly with anything luna says very refreshing or useful.
Mmmkay.

Here's a simple flow chart:
Was the product defective, no matter how it was obtained? If yes----------------------->You can complain.
If it's the result of modification by the previous owner? If yes----------------------------->Hahahahahahahaha, NOPE.

Funny, because that's how 90% of the companies I've bought from(Privateer Press, Corvus Belli, West Wind Productions, Squadron Mail Order) ship things.
Never have had a problem with it.
