yup, same here. i've got a few of those from the 90's and they're still usable. the next bottle design (the one with the screw top lid that always gets stuck) and the current one (the "leak all over the back of the lip/lid" design) dry up. i skipped 4th edition and my really old paints (as well as 100% of the reaper paints i had) were usable but anything from GW in the last two bottle designs was dried up. this is absolutely on purpose; gw did not redesign the bottle TWICE without considering paint drying out.

Just to add to the chorus, I have 20 year-old paints that are still going fine, and I have some of the newer ranges that I bought recently that are now dried up. I bought a ton of the older white-lid paints when my FLGS was clearing them out, so I have a drawer full of them. Some aren't colours I'll see myself using a whole lot of, but c'est la vie.

I'm not going to throw away my recent GW paints or anything, but when they get replaced, I've been repping them with Vallejo for the most part, and I've just gotten my first pot of P3, with an order for 12 more that got sent out to me today.

I don't think it was deliberate either, but I also don't think they're in any hurry to replace them...

I remember seeing someone post a pic from a WD of the painting team's set up, and I seem to recall there being a lot of Vallejo-style bottles around. So I don't think even the pros that work for GW use GW paint.

Except this isn't anything like that. At all.

We all know how concerned GW is with making money and cutting corners, it's certainly within the realm of possibility for them to design a cheaper paint pot that deliberately causes the paint to dry quicker so it has to be replaced more often. If there's no "conspiracy" then why don't they use dropper-style bottles like damn near everyone else? Not only do the dropper bottles keep paint from drying out faster, they also let you control how much paint you use, so you're using less than you would with GW's pots.

I'm not saying it's true, mind you, I'm just saying that it honestly wouldn't surprise me.

I don't think it's by design, specifically, but i don't think GW will be swift to fix it, per se...
I like the newer form of paint pot- The screw on pots sucked big time (i kept my rubberized snakebite leather screw on pot as a memento for how balls they were) but I have had some good luck with the pop top ones. I opened up a year old bleached bone, and aside from it drying quickly on the palette, and some globs in it, it was fine. add a little water, bam. So I don't think it's THAT bad.

Edit- Now that I think about it... @#$## THESE GW POTS! Ima go find a new paint actually, I'm sick of thick goopy paint, and leaky pots.
