Clips don't really see mainstream use anymore, they made more sense when the standard capacity for military rifles was 5 to 10 rounds. Nowadays, with most weapons being high-capacity automatics, the only use I see from clips is to hold loose ammunition together prior to loading it into a standard magazine, or on SKS rifles that are still clip-fed.

+1

If you search for "magazine vs clip" on Google Images you'll get some more examples. Anyways, I'm glad I helped educate the masses on this common error... but I'm sorry for derailing your thread slightly!

Ahhh, I'm not the only one peeved by misuse of the words "clip", and "magazine". My friends know their use now after many punches/kicks/backhands from me

yeah us military types are especially offended by it. Unfortunately for me, I'm Air Force, and of course combat skills are not high on our priorities I still hear people mixing the two up at work all the time

Well, I can tell you how I built the 1st one, which wasn't to hard really. I did it in 3 weeks after all, the new one is much more intensive, I have yet to finish a piece of the armor yet, I have mostly been doing mock-ups to see how the final peices will be built ( which is one thing I learned from the 1st one).

Once I start actual construction I plan on taking photos along the way. If you want a list of the mats I built the 1st one out of, just LMK.

I plan on covering the basic shape ( made out of craft foam) in PVC foam which can be sanded and what not.

If I build it like I built the prototype I can use the elbow joint and a inner support about 3 inches up from the wrist to help support and center the body of the powerfist when the arm is moved.
It's important to support it at atlest 2 points so the wrist can move freely.

Okay, so that's basicly what I have started to do.
These are still WIP pics, but I am really starting to like the size of the piece now it's much larger now and stands out more. It's still just about as light weight as it was in foam.

The main mod I made was to add a cut away at the front of the elbow so it could flex better.

Here it is with the shell added, I wrote "FAITH" on it in silver sharpie.

I desided that it needed the trim around the elbow and wrist like I had in the mock-up.The trim is not attached, just heat foarmed to fit, it is also twice as thick as the "base" PVC I used. I may deside to trim it more along the top area to shadow the rounded shape of the edge. The wierd squiggles on it are where I tried to cover up the crap fluer I drew.

As you can see it's a shell over the foam base.

What do you guys think?

Anyhow, astounishing Power Fist! You don't see many SoB costumes nowadays, and you clearly have done a great work!

Any chance we're going to see some Astartes battleplate in the future?

Well, I desided to see how I was going to make the other armored hand. This is what I came up with. Raven wasn't around to modle it, she's sleeping, so I did...She dose it much better, Me, I make it look a lot larger then it is, infact it barely fit my hand.

Anyway, I desided to try a weathered look, these are the WIP pic's.

Nowadays, with most weapons being high-capacity automatics, the only use I see from clips is to hold loose ammunition together prior to loading it into a standard magazine, or on SKS rifles that are still clip-fed.

It's also useful to know that a clip basically just holds the cartridges in a vertical stack so they can be stripped off into an internal magazine in the gun.

So, with the SKS, you fit the clip into the top, shove down, and then cartridges feed into the gun, and the clip falls away.

Also, that brings up the other one... "Bullets" are the things that fly out of the gun. "Cartridges" are the entire assembly of case, primer, powder, bullet, etc.

this project has kept ime hooked since it was firs tposted.

i was wodnering if you could right a guide for making the bolt pistols/

i've been fiddling with ideas for months. but i was wondering if you could post a bit of a tutorial on hwo you did it, especially the mags.

i am thinking of using a NERF N-STRIKE RECON CS-6, which are big and chunky for my first one and if i ever end up doing a lasgun there is a new Longstrike which looks exactly liek a cadian pattern lasgun.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Wonderfully done. The crafting of the flamers has been outstanding. I do agree the bolt gun barrel is a bit OT, but I also agree this is 40k!

Few layers of paint down, I like the weathering and colors on this one. I was a bit hesitaint to do red, but it's such a classic flamer color. Becouse this is styled after the new death comapny hand flamers I desided to go with red which I felt did both honor the past classic and the new blood angels at the same time. I'm not sure what colors I will go with on the tank...leaning twords a soild metal color, not the stripes...
