I understand that taste is relative. Albatross and I have had discussions before but at least it came down to "I don't like it, this is why" as opposed to "That sucks, it's so fake, it's just generic and pointless, she's a man, etc." There's more to it than people generally get and I'd at least like a glimmer of open-mindedness or an admission that people haven't cared to look beyond the very surface before passing utter judgment. People would rather be threatened by something or trivialize it as common without ever really getting to know if that's the case.

Seconded. The state of taste in this country is absolutely woeful. I bet that same idiot probably thinks that Florence and The Machine sounds a 'bit like Kate Bush (because that's what those eminent taste-makers at Closer magazine told me to think.)'. She honks away like a fething GOOSE! Terrible! Kate Bush rules.

American viewers will note a very young Hugh Laurie in this video.
I know Imogen Heap was already mention. My favorite song of hers:
I was in love with this song way before Jason Derulo went and bastardized it. Seriously, guy. Exercise some creativity and show some originality instead of ripping the work of an artist with some actual talent.

Having listened to pretty much all of her music, and researching her life and career (because I like to understand something before I dislike it), I can tell you that I honestly, sincerely, and totally, meant everything I said. I gave her a chance....but hey man, nobody is stopping you from putting in "The Fame", cranking it up and...

I feel amazingly stupid (since I started this thread) at not mentioning Wendy O Williams....not the most tallented vocalist of her time..but she sure made up for it with a gak load of "Feth You!"...
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Of all the races of the universe the Squats have the longest memories and the shortest tempers. They are uncouth, unpredictably violent, and frequently drunk. Overall, I'm glad they're on our side!

Have you heard the Ramones Tribute Album "We're a Happy Family"? The Pretenders do "Something to Believe In." Just hearing Chrissy say the line 'if people werent such d***s' is enough to send shivvers.

Where to start?..... Cheri Currie from the Runaways, as well as Lita Ford, Doro Pesch, Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde
The Original Metal Queen - Lee Aaron,
Does Jazz now but still has pipes.
Ah, Lee Aaron. She had a great sound, though I heard that at the time, her releases didn't get to the US (thanks to mismanagement of the label execs)? If that's the case, she probably would have been a lot bigger.
One I've been listening to is Steffanie Borges. I don't think she had a release outside of Japan, even though she was an American artist and sang all in English. I would recommend her if you like Lee Aaron or Warlock/Doro, though I think she's a bit less heavy. Of her two albums, I would say her second (Pink Noise) is harder/heavier than the first (Hideaway) but both are good.

She is, simply put, a truly awesome talent. She's pretty much my favourite contemporary female artist at the moment, and she's only released one album!
Here's a few tunes by her - if you haven't heard her before, I urge you in the strongest possible terms to listen, and listen good.

Actually, At the time that Lee Aaron was in her first recording contract, MTV was being looked to as the leading edge for what was "popular". Unfortunately a lot of American record company execs were, at the time, looking for the "next Madonna" and while Lee was recording some awesome music, she didn't fit that mold. Happened to a lot of female artists from the 80s,

She sounds a lot like Betsy from the band Bitch.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Daba... Heres another one you may like... band is called Saraya. Also look up Chrissy Steele and Romeo's Daughter.
