I've noticed quite a few music threads here in the OT,Hell..I've been responsible for a few of them, however,I have noticed a certain "male" slant in most threads,so...what I'd like to see here is a bit of "love" for female artist.
So how about it Dakka, who are your favorite female music artist.
Here are two ladies who IMO have simply beutiful voices.
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

As a brief aside... on Empire State of Mind... I saw Jay-Z recently on the BP3 tour. I quite honestly think that was probably the second best show I have ever see from a production standpoint after NIN's Lights In The Sky tour.
On Topic now...
Poe
Garbage
Veruca Salt
Hole (up through Live through This)

Sandy Denny - I don't think there's a comparison to her voice, or her influence on music in her time... She was the only outside singer to ever appear on a Zeppelin album too.
I would be remiss if I didn't bring up Janis Joplin.
I don't mind a little Tori Amos every now and then either. As far as new artists go, I'd have to say that Neko Case is pretty much the best thing going today.

And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

Possibly the most beautiful redhead on the planet, and a terrific singer to boot.
And Juliette Simms, vocalist for Automatic Loveletter, but I think did her best work with All Time Low - Remembering Sunday, which is in incredibly depressing song. (Note that this is a fan made music video, since there is no official one of any decent quality.)
It's about a guy and a girl who have a one day/night stand. He realizes that he has deeper feelings for the girl, (I guess a love at first sight kinda thing) and retraces his steps, but finds out that she killed herself a day or so after they hooked up. What makes it all the sadder, is that this apparently is something that actually happened to the artist. Singing skill aside, Juliette conveys so much passion into her verse, I couldn't help but weep while listening to the song, after I had found out what it was about. To date, this is the only song that has ever brought me to tears.
Yes, I listen to emo music.

Kelli Ali was the shiz in Sneaker Pimps but those donkey-caves used her to break into the market then dropped her from 'their' band... which immediately dropped back into obscurity.
Gotta love them teeth...

Wow. She's quite talented. A bit freaky looking, what with those chompers.
Seriously, each one of those pearly whites oughta be worth an Ork's whole mouth.
