Good thing armies don't have ways to make your decent reserve rolls worse, right? Or the ability to shoot you when you deep strike.

Granted, as a 'nid player you have a couple ways to boost your reserve rolls, so the first part is probably a wash.

Crons can tool up nicely at 2500. I also think some people see crons on the other side of the table and snicker to themselves and maybe dont play as well as they should since they have it in the bag.

I guess I cant cheer them on too much as I am wussing out and not taking them this year. I took them last year and wanted to make it to Chicago with them soo bad, but failed.

the problem with necrons is you need to spend a lot of money on destroyers.. When the box sets come with a lot of non-destroyers

Interesting, just remember each year the top players have won because they could play the lists they chose, not because of what tier it was considered to be in. I will either do Salamanders or my Eldar.

Dont forget to add a lot of absurdness too every year.. GWs running of the final rounds of the 'ard boyz is pretty suspect at times..

I would wager 2nd round is much more useful in figuring out which armies did the best.. Every year there is massive problems at the 'ard boyz finals

Well, they do just take either volunteers or some of the guys off the trade desk to run the finals. There are a few good guys that are usually there, you just have to know who they are.

It would be great if crons got to finals or even won. If alot of missions are geared to foot slogging, taking three monos and the rest troops would be awesome. Positioned in the right way, monos can get your troops anywhere. Also, yes my troop have on many occasions glanced the hell out of many vehicles including land raiders.

The only thing that kills necrons... is the drop in LD after they lose combat... If necrons had a rule to fix this (stubborn?)... they would be very competitive.

Yeah, but frgsinwntr is right, combat resolution is a lot tougher on necrons now, and back in fourth edition a glancing hit could kill a vehicle...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Up in your base, killin' all your doods.

Didn't necrons used to be exteremely powerful in 3rd and 4th? I know they were considered good in 4th because, like KK said, glancing could destroy a vehicle.

Necrons were only played by WAAC rules lawyering jerks in 4th edition, just ask KK.

Har de har Jack, people might think you really aren't fond of me...

The first year they ran Ard Boyz players were supposed to use the same army all three rounds. Not the same list necessarily, but the same army. After the regionals several threads had folks chiming in with what they qualified with, so a fairly comprehensive list formed of how many armies of a given race would be there. My buddy Toby and I worked up a list for Necrons that we felt would work well against the field.

I got lucky and faced armies I could do well against. The first round was Thousand Sons, The second round was Eldar super falcons and Harlequins primarily, which was a tough fight. The last round I was two points behind a perfect scoring player with assault cannon spamming marines. He got one look at my three monoliths and I could see him deflate a little, but he still fought a hard game. Turn four I moved a monolith within range of around ten of his units, speeders, dreads, predators, and razorbacks, and rolled a crazy amount of glances against them, effectively winning.

The way glancing works now there is small chance I would have even made it to finals. I hope Necrons get a new codex soon...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Im just picking on you. From what I heard though, you and Darkwynn have a lot in common, much more so then just winning the ard boyz. Great minds think alike!
