The game itself looks a bit dull. Needs more skulls I think. Honestly Alessio, didn't GW teach you anything?!

The fact that's its chess with 4 and not 2 sides already affects his thinking. Don't confuse him with more numbers by making him count skulls.

Did anyone else realize that the name of their chess game is the same as Leela from Futurama's first name?

Did anyone else realize that the name Turanga Leela is a reference to a symphony called "Turangalîla-Symphonie" by Olivier Messiaen? In other words, the makers of Futurama did not invent the name though they made clever use of it.

Nonsense. That would imply they stole the name, and as we all know, only GW steals the names of things.

Sorry to see him go.

BY FAR, this is the best version of 40K I've played (my third one), and I liked almost all (all but 2) of his changed to the CSM codex.

Fixed.
Because clearly, he was the only reason they were doing it at GW!

That's Latham, the WD editor. His latest editorial mentions he's going (gone?) across to games design. Maybe he'll have learnt the difference between 'affect' and 'effct' by then...

Heavens forbid they actually advertise for an outsider who acctually knows how to use the system to break it/ rules lawyer it so as to prevent problems occuring.
GWAR and Stelek would be good choices off hand.

That's a joke, right?

No joke.

I seriously want the most OTT power gamer/rules lawyer working in the studio to find the problems with the codex/army book/rules book, before it gets released.
It takes most coherent gamers about 5 minutes to find at least 10 ridiculous combos/items/rules in every book they do.
I want 99% of those problem areas fixed so FAQs are very rarely needed.

In principle I could not agree with Gonads more (and I don't think many other people would either), but I think other posters may have a problem with those two choices.

On a personal note, I think Gwar! would be a good choice - he seems to know just about every rule verbatim and has a good eye for spotting interactions between rules. If that could be translated within the studio into clearer rules then we would all have a much easier time.

Stelek on the other hand seems to offer nothing more than 'I'm right and everybody else is wrong' - often followed by 'My *insert spam-list-of-the-week-here* can beat anything' even though Stelek and his lists never seem to win tournaments...

Agreed on all counts!

Gwar! would be an EXCELLENT candidate for this proposed position at GW.

They would do well to fill it with him ASAP.

And, to be clear, this would be to iron out rules so that they were clear, NOT so we would continue to have all the ridiculous RaW interpretations that we have now, only have them officially clarified via 'errata'...

Somewhere in south-central England.

You probably want two or three professional rules-busters in the studio.

Their personal identities would not have to be made public.

The points they raised would need to be addressed by good quality writing before publication.

Players would have fewer does not compute moments when using the rules.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I nominate Gwar! also.

So long as he smacks Robin Cruddace for introducing "Hotshot" Lasguns on Stormtroopers, of all things.

Certain (indeed, probably ALL) inflammatory personalities should be desperately avoided for jobs like this.

Also, any individuals that you want to have as "rules-busters" do not need to be on staff. They can be part of your playtesting group.

In fact, it might even be better if those people are NOT staff but are, instead, part of a compensated playtest group who have signed NDA's.

Consulting someone who has experience with rules sounds ... unconventional! At least for GW!

But as MM said some people, as good as they are at interpreting rules, should not be allowed near a GW play test area.

Some get a little "too" defensive would lead to fist fights breaking out over the use of the word "may".

Not true at all.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Holy moly, I think we've foud a common ground! LOL

Sadly, I think your example is closer to correct than most realize.

I've been in the hell called YMDC.

I've seen firsthand that certain people shouldn't be allowed near a playtest codex.

Wouldn't be very pretty for the codex writers (or the rules lawyers).
