I think this is definitely a "common sense" type of question: anything from the Chaos Daemons codex is a daemon, even the soul grinder, but rune priests can't harm them anyway, so who cares. Daemon Princes are also daemons (have the name in the title) and so are greater daemons and lesser daemons. Possessed are still men, just daemons intruding on their bodies and so are possessed vehicles. If there isn't a direct ruling on it, just use common sense, that's my take. It's not always a perfect fix, but here I think it works. Also the Eldar Avatar being labeled a "daemon" clearly makes it a daemon as well

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

And by an equal amount of common sense Sanguinor, the Legion of the Damned, and Roboute "I'm regenerating in stasis" Guilliman are also clearly daemonic beings.

By the burning light of the Inquisition, all of the Imperial forces will be exposed for the daemons that they are.

how are they considered daemonic? I have a BA and SM codex and I haven't seen anything labeling the sanguinor daemonic (legion of the damned I could ALMOST see the argument, but they're just closer to being better Thousand Sons marines than daemons). Sanguinor is more like Jesus: Sanguinius back from the dead. Idk if a giant rock was involved, but the Sanguinor COULD be a guy back from the dead (doesnt make him daemonic) and he does hold a wine-glass containing blood... pretty shady, if you ask me...and being like Jesus means he's the opposite of a daemon. The inquisition opponents should automatically just concede and pay homage to the Sanguinor, not denounce him :p

Checking the dates of posts can help.

All of the original posters are probably gone... save a few who constantly lurch aboot the YMDC sections.

-Saying that it is obvious what daemons are is a little obtuse. There are plenty of things that are grey, possessed is one of them. (AFAIK)

Stop trolling.

And that's just what a foul, daemon tainted entity would want you to think. It's 40k. A mysterious guy in a golden mask shows up and is claimed to be the reincarnation or aspect of a warp tainted primarch, and that's going to cause some concern. To rip off the quote from another forum, "If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it's a daemon! Kill it with fire!"

Once you start arguing whether daemon princes and possessed are "daemons" or not, you've hit the realm of no return where you're going to be arguing forever about how much daemonic or warp influence it takes to qualify as a "daemon", and what standard of proof is acceptable.

Basically, I've tried to say "if it's in the daemon codex or it has daemon in the name, it's a daemon." Or if it has a special rule saying it's 'daemonic'-like the Eldar avatar. Things like possessed, the sanguinor, and other "questionable" models don't have "daemon" in their name, or any special rules that call them daemons so they aren't. I think that's a fair statement of what qualifies as a daemon. If the BA faq said the sanguinor "counted as a daemon," I'd be happy to say he was a daemon. As of right now, I think he's the 40k version of Jesus. Waiting for the baptists to kill me now...haha.

PS, we already have Thor and Loki in the space wolves codex...and anyone who argues with me that the guy in terminator armor who throws a S10 thunder hammer that magically returns to his hand isn't a copy of Thor with Mjolnir is just trying to be offensive. Thor and Jesus, two gods in 40k...how lovely
