I've got something to say about people that are rude to other people without remembering that this is a game first and formost.

I've also got something to say about people that tirelessly berate GW about scenarios despite the fact that this company, one that is notorious for gouging our wallets with price increases, is providing us not only with a FREE tournament but mounds of prize support for it.

The answer is nothing. All three of these statements boil down to the same opinion. The difference is on your end; whether or not you're too thin-skinned to get past your emotional response to their tone.

If shane had gone to the websites of the people he's complaining about and made his point there then I would have no criticism, I might even have joined in with him.

Vitriol from most players is an excuse to hide behind poor performance in many cases. And it is ridiculous. This us a game and if something annoys you take it to the table, beat it and move on.

Unfortunately even good gamers who are usually pleasant in person can fall into this trap online or at tournaments.

Yesterday I faced a local gamer who is usually pleasant to play and I was up 15 kill points to 4. He saw a chance to get more forced in another round of game play. Became critical and started to try and cheat and the TO allowed him to play the round. I got to finish my turn and the game ended up 21 KP for me 5 for him. Completely unnecessary.

Btw I took a ridiculous Eldar list with 2 squads of 10 Fure Dragons. I will post that later.

The missions are really poor this year. Last year's were actually quite good (I've used them quite a bit for variety).

That's hardly a reason to skip a tournement that:

1) is FREE
2) could be fun, and is FREE
3) Has the potential to give you FREE swag
4) is the only FREE avenue to getting a ticket to Las Vegas (assuming you kick enough butt to take it ALL home)
5) Offers new and interesting scenario's...regardless of they're refiinement, they're playable...and good practice for your skills.
by the way, did I mention that the tournament is FREE?

Scott, like I said, the zip code of where I complain is hardly relevant. I lurk many sites, I post on many sites, I chose to bring this up here because its one of the more respected sites.

I've got no problem with negative opinion, but when its laced with insults and/or cursing, you're just being juvenile, immature, and generally annoying. These are the people I'm railing against.

Actually, its not socially acceptable to NOT curb your tongue, not in person it isnt. Its only acceptable on the internet because you cannot get punched in the face here. With you're arguement, you'd have presidential debates with candidates saying "'F' this guy", and "Screw that guy". There's a proper way to bring forth a grevience and a wrong way...we're talking about the wrong way here...not the fact that you have a problem with the way things are in the first place.

Actually, that response was mainly for Gwars quote when he stated that "dont bother this year with Ard Boys GW doesnt have a clue this year."

If you're going to quote someone...it helps to get the whole story for context. File that away for the future please.

Your stance honestly isnt worth even considering. Sorry, it isnt.

The problems lie in the tone and substance of the critique.

Often, there is little more than a series of comments harshly denouncing the list, person, venue, or mission without any firm reason given for the denoucing. They're akin to fashionistas. It's as if they expect you to KNOW all the inherant flaws in a list structure that fits in their tiny box of understanding the hobby.

Their opinions are of little to no value because they do not educate, they only denegrate.

Oh yea, the guy that wrote them was playing a list that worked perfectly with all 3 scenarios.

Maybe you should do a bit more research before you complain about people complaining.


Finally. I swear you have probably never ever played any other type of competitive game. If you had, you would realize that if you show up for a competitive event and do stupid stuff, you are going to get bashed on for it. ANY EVENT! Actually warhammer 40k is probably the most tame of these, because most tournaments are hobby events and people just fall back on that.

Really? 1 tournament a year with a bit of prize support?
Pretty much every other gaming company does tons of free tournaments a year with way more prize support.

If you are only going to manage 1 tournament a year than at least put a good amount of work into it.
Instead we get un playtested scenarios written a week before the event by a participant in the event!! What a joke!

As for the scenarios, any good commander can adapt to anything. Most of the time you aren't in a perfect situation for anything in your army, so you have to make do.

The only reason I am so competitive is because I like winning so much, but if I lose, it's not a huge deal.

Something that easily gets overlooked, a player tries to bend the rules and then complain cause someone calls them on it. If you don't cheat you have nothing to worry about.
