Hello.

I'm new in miniature gaming and Infinity got me interested. It helped that I'm an anime' guy and the cyberpunk theme tickled my interest.

Infinity is a relatively cheap game to play. I started with a 150 pt game which the starter boxes can cover with a few blister unit purchase. So i guess an initial investment of $100-$150 to have a 10-model army and just add more for the rule books and other fluff.

I ended up choosing Panoceana for the high BS and cool T.A.G. models (I'm getting the Cutter).

I'll probably start a Combined Army group after I build and paint my Panoceana models.

My only complaint about infinity is that it ends too quick. Most models are 1-2 wounds and if you fail 2 armor saves from getting hit by an HMG (4 d20 rolls), you're unit is down/dead. Lately, my games end in disaster due to bad d20 rolls...

I hope this helps.

I can't really speak for Infinity, but I and quite a few people at my FLGS have started, and it's an awesome game. The 'Cheating Fate' mechanic basically gives you a number of set re-rolls (40k terms: you roll a 2 to hit, and change it to a 4), and it can be quite strategy focussed too, with quite a few synergies between some models.

Also, the 'I go, you go' system means that players are involved the entire game, as apposed to 40k where you effectively do nothing but roll armour saves and do close combat for each of your opponents turns.

The background's pretty cool too, and I like the miniatures. I got the Ortegas box. They're a family of mexican, demon-hunting cowboys.

It seems like everyone starts with the Ortegas which I guess is a good and a bad thing... ATM they are one of the highest powered most forgiving forces, but I have it on very good athority that, that is going to change relativly soon. Early on its very easy to win with the Ortegas, but once your opponants learn the intracasies of the game and the stratigies that work well with their respective masters, the Ortegas hit a pretty hard wall. They are just very one dimenionsal.

I think that you really need terrain to take advantage of to get balance with Ortegas early.

Its like if you have Footslogging Orks vs Tau or FB Orcs vs Empire gunline. You have to reduce the number of firelanes they are allowed.

One good thing is if they want to use the Family Companion ability, they need to be fairly bunched.

I like to use a distraction piece to help get upfield on them. Something fairly tough, that can suck a few cards out of their hand at least.

Bam, said the lady!

I've actually used several stampedeing Warpigs effectivly against the Ortegas.
