Poll
Do you play to win or have fun?
100% Fun: If I got to see a game and hang out it was a good day.
75% Fun 25% to Win: If I got to play and took out some key models but lost, I am happy.
50% Fun, 50% to Win: I love a close match with an opponent who knows their stuff and can make fun, if I manage to scrape by or lose by my teeth that is OK.
25% Fun, 75% to Win: Playing mind games and springing rules exploits is all part of the fun seeing them sweat.
100% to Win: To destroy my enemy utterly and see them cry or throw something is happiness you cannot immagine.

I think the OP is a fluff bunny that gets his head caved in by a local TFG every week.

Anxiously awaiting unbiased poll options.

Unfortunately the voting has progressed a bit so it would have to stand the way it is.
To edit the questions after the fact seems unethical (unless it resets the poll?).

I have seen many suggestions how the questions are bad but no offers on how to reword it (unless I missed something).
I found out after the fact a special area has been set aside for polls so waiting a little bit you could post a better one if you wish. I would even vote on it.
I have clarified some things but the damage is done, so be it.
Like the complexity of the hobby, there are many gamer types that do not fit in a nice neat 5 categories or so.

I am a 50/50 that gets his "head caved in" by some good 75W/25F friends that I surprise 1/3rd of the time, which leads to very unsportsmanlike behavior (by me or them is never clear).
I do seem to attract TFG like mosquitoes: I am favorite prey, good gamer but not so good that I am a major threat.
When I do win against them though, it makes the win that much sweeter.

Your comments, suggestions and ridicule is appreciated and will be remembered...

I tend to play more for fun, as being newer to the game I don't have the experience to really go hardcore. I play in the fun tournaments but didn't go in for hard boys even though it's free as playing in a tournament that's all about tabling the other guy doesn't seem as much fun. Also, playing up here in Madison, there is a large amount of great competition so just playing for fun teaches me quite a bit very quickly. Playing to win is hard when the local guys around here are tough. One of our local guys was the Chicago Hard Boys winner and our other guy going down took 7th. Both are great guys and will play games with people and getting beat up by their lists just makes you a better gamer.

To roll dice, move models and hear the lamentations of your opponent.

But seriously I think the question is crap.

It should be stated like.

What will you scarifice/do to win.

Nothing
Some Fluff
All Fluff
Rules Exploit
Be TFG

Also no cupcake option. Polls Closed due to tactical genius.

Just a summary of the same poll, cut, dried and probably would get fewer postings.
Keeping the wording super short does avoid conflict so in that you have a point.
Glad you at least gave an alternative rather than just criticism.

The only time I really get pissed about losing is in the following situations:

a) My opponent just rolls insane. Its hard to enjoy a game when your opponent makes every save and never fails to hit/wound with everything.

b) I fail a ridiculous number of rolls. Like failing 6-8 3+ saves in one turn.

Other than that though, I'm pretty happy just having a fun game. However, I build my lists to win.

Yeah! Who needs balanced rules when everyone can take giant stompy robots! Balanced rules are just for TFG WAAC players, and everyone hates them.

I play to win. Winning is fun. Winning against good players is more fun than beating noobs. Helping players get better so that they become harder to beat is also fun.

I participate in the hobby to have fun. I play the game to win.

For me I play to have fun and use the models I like. I have said this before and ill say it agian but really 40k is two different games in one. Those who play for fun and fluff are playing one game while people who play to WAAC are playing a totally diffrent game.

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.
