I originally saw 40k when I was an exchange student in France (was in the 7th grade). Couldn't afford it until I was a junior in high school, been spending my money on it ever sense.

DukeRustfield - There's nothing wrong with beer and pretzels. I'm pretty sure they are the most important members of the food group.

My mate Damian - superb chap, you'd like him. Must be more than 20 years ago or so now he came to my house excitedly waving a copy of White Dwarf.

I believe his opening gambit went along the lines of: "this is cool - well I think it's cool - do you think it's cool? - I thinks it's cool, we should definitely do this, yes, let's do this, I'm buying some orks, what are you going to get"...

One copy of Rogue Trader between us and a big section of chipboard sprayed green and set up in my parents' garage for a gameboard, and that's how we spent the whole summer.

I'm now trying the same line of argument on my wife and so far it's working - our spare room is starting to look an awful lot like that garage all those years ago - she's a big Space Hulk fan, just about to try her on 40K.

Damian lives over in Sweden now, but he tells me he's got a Guard force together - time to pack my new Marines into my suitcase I think!
