i call my lord THE flayed one, my theme is that it is the first flayed one and the twitchy flayed ones are infected with slight personality making them want to "Re-skin" themselves, believeing on some small level they should have skin

Mine dosnt have a name because I dont think it fits necrons very much. If any thing maybe name it a lord after a plaent in the 40k universe.

What's the background behind the lord? Has he conquered any planets? That way you could choose a name for based on what the defenders called him, such as "The Scourge of [insert planet's name here]" or something like that.

You could also give him a name based on what another of your armies would call him, so your Orks could call him "Da Clanking Metal Git of Bork" or suchlike.

Imhotep sounds fitting for a Necron Lord name to me.

I had planned out an 8-bit Binary based naming scheme for all my models.
First 2 digits would be FOC slot (Troop, Elite, FA and Heavy)
Second 2 digits would be Unit number in that slot.
And then the last 4 digits for each model in the unit.

This limitied unit sizes to 16 models and 4 units in Troops.

But then it seemed that Binary was far too simple a language for a race who can cross the galaxy in the blink of an eye, etc.

Also there are plenty of Necrons who have retained their personnailities, so no reason that my dudes couldn't be one of these groups.

Hopefully the new codex will gives rules differences for Necrons who have retained their personnalities, those who are insane and those that have no personnality left whatever.
