@Cato

Seems like they fit fine in the height but because of arms (pistols/swords) the models are more than 1.5" deep. That's my concern as well for some of my models and why if I do order I'll just have to do a custom tray with it being 2". Maybe add 2" as an option on those pre-made trays for armies like Orks and Chaos who are generally more all over the place?

@Cato,
I did not realize that 2" was an option when I ordered. Can I return these unused trays and exchange them for 2" versions?

Thanks in advance

I suggest finding a local SM player and trading/selling to them.

Those trays are the same that I bought for my Blood Angels.
They work great for regular marines and Jumppackers.
Not so great for Sanguinary Guard.

I ended up with extras because things fit so well. traded them to another SM player for a War of the Ring book.

@Darrian

The problem being because 2" isn't an option on the standard ones they might charge you the extra $3 that the custom ones cost. But then again maybe not We'll just have to see.

Sucks about the massive shipping for aussie customers:
for a custom pack 432 its 143 bucks and like 50 bucks for shipping in which i can get a double aluminium custom case which can hold like 320 dudes for 160 bucks and free shipping.

1750 points of Imperial Guard
500 points of Biel Tan Mech-dar

250 points of Dark Angels

I just got my 1520 XL, and delivered to australia no less. Did a massive order with friends to keep the shipping down. And was pretty disappointed to find that the size of the case was reduced from the specs when it was ordered so that the custom foam does not even fit. They did not even email us a warning to say "hey, the bag is smaller than advertised, want to change your foam load out?" of which I almost certainly would have replied "yes it would be great if the things fit!". Pretty poor in the ways of customer service and advertising of the product IMO.

I guess now I just have to manually shave off small amounts of foam from my 10 trays with a box cutter :(

What changed? are you saying the 15.5x12 trays won't fit or are you saying the height isn't as high anymore?

I have the old pack 1520 and it is great so I am curious to hear issues with the new one since it is different.

Reecius: For the Vendetta trays, is there a space for the flight stands? The picture on the website seems to have space for a couple of tanks and heavy weapons instead. Definitely thinking about picking one of the bags up and trying to plan it out. Thanks.

The issue is that before the 1520 XL was released, but up for pre-order, it was advertised as 22 inches high. So when I ordered a custom load out I ordered exactly 22 inches of foam to go in it. Now after it came out the website has been updated to say that is "around" 21 inches high. I have not had a chance to measure it just yet, but suffice to say my foam load does not fit (which is why I am not very happy).

Anyone going to order a 1520 XL now will see the website saying it is 21 inches high and order foam accordingly and will not have any problems. Except of course the bag is slightly smaller than its predecessor, but it is a superior bag regardless with the wheels and what not.

There is not a space for the flying stand in the Valkyrie/Vendetta Tray. I am not sure if they will fit in the tank slots (if you were not going to put tanks there). I can look into that tomorrow for you. Barring that you best bet would be doing a custom tray.

I put my stands in my valkyre trays. you put the base at the bottom and put the stem under the back wings. Works easy and keeps it secure.

Did you try contacting the company about your complaint before complaining on a forum about it? They may be willing to do something to rectify the situation. Mangling your trays with a box cutter seems to be a horrible idea to me.

Also, did you remember to add in the extra height for the bottom piece when calculating the height of your trays?

Yeah I accounted for the 1/4 inch. I got a chance to measure it, it is off by exactly an inch, which accounts for the 22 inches originally specified for the product, and the 21 inches it is now. After going through everything (which took a while because we ordered 5 bags at once to cut down on shipping), we noticed they threw in extra toppers. So my solution has been to just have one 1 inch tray stay out of the bag and fill the gap with one of the many extra toppers. I "currently" do not own enough models to fill this extra tray so it is not a big deal. I was just annoyed at the time when I found out that the load out did not fit.

I did not contact the company because there was not really any solution beyond them magically making the case larger. I also said anyone ordering now will see the correct height stated on the website and not fall in the same trap I did. On the plus side I now have more trays then fit in a 21 inch load out for the same price.

It is also a very good bag, sturdy and easy to get around with the wheels.

@ Tentfox
I was thinking somewhere along the lines of swapping a couple of your trays for trays a half inch shorter (since you were going to cut some down, anyway).
Romeo's pretty good about customer service. I don't think I've ever seen him NOT try to help fix a customer problem.

Never know until you try. Right? : )
