Early release for Prospero Burns? Zing! I've got a funny feeling now.

"Prospero Burns" is Dan Abnett's delayed Horus Heresy novel, which is a counterpoint to the already published "A Thousand Sons".

I don't think we are, alas, quite seeing the return of Chapter Approved, but I would say there's every chance this release might well follow the pattern set down by the Nightspinner.

.. so we can look forward to 2,345 thread in YMDC et al asking/arguing about if this is "legal" for X/Y/Z soon enough then ! Hooray !

GW..they keep on giving.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

While I appreciate the Apocalypse focus as of late, I doubt that a plastic Warhound would make it out for a Christmas release... Just from a price standpoint and the fact it would be mail order only don't really make it viable. (Besides, the guys that really want one, got it from Forge World already.)

No, I really look at the recent Apocalypse push as a way to sell more stuff. Apocalypse requires large armies to play, no force org chart, and way to push expensive kits. If I were a game company going into a holiday season, I'd probably push it as well.

What I think you will likely see for the holidays from GW will be army bundle sales, probably featured in the White Dwarf. I think you will probably see something like: Purchase this Battleforce, with these extra boxes, and get a free Independent Character of your choice!

If I were to take a random stab, the only possible new things you will see in December will be more Dark Eldar models making it to the shelves. Otherwise we would probably know about it by now. If I could further look into a crystal ball, I would say that 2011 will be a pretty busy year in terms of releases. We'll probably get 3 new codex books along with 3 new Fantasy army books. Not sure about the Fantasy armies, but the codex releases will probably all be pretty big if you consider that the last remaining 3rd edition armies (Grey Knights/Daemon Hunters, Necrons, Witch Hunters/Sisters) will all need a lot of new plastic to catch up.

Happy Holidays!

Boy, I'd kill for a new necron codex
though I don't think anything that major will be announced this close to the season
