Only a few of the ones I bought aren't painted but I'm hoping I can strip the paint off the other ones :p

If your going to be using Plague Marines, you'll do much better buying plastic CSMs and converting them rather than buying the metal "Plague Marines" kit, plus you'll have alot more special weapons options with the plastic kit than with the metal one.

Yeah, the ones I bought I think are OOP and plastic. I would convert but I'm not sure how and I think 25 should be enough to get me rolling for the time being. Once I get around to needing more (which will be after getting some rhinos, and probably a DP or Kharn or something along thoes lines) then I will hopefully have learned more about converting and all of that. Or maybe I can find a video on youtube. . Hmm. . .*off to youtube*

Mecha - except Kharn is an "eggs in one basket" situation. Yes, he can ride in a rhino: until that rhino is the first target of any ranged weaponry. Then hes walking. Once he's walking he can be ignored until you have dealt with the other threats.

The DPs serve as a double threat. Do you shoot the 5 targets or 3 targets with Kharn in there as well?

Plus this isnt hot air: I regularly use this, against UK GT quality opponents, and do well. The volume of fire needed to reliably take down both soon enough to make a difference is difficult to pull off. Which also means that youre not shooting the oblits who are at least shaking your tanks, reducing your incoming fire.

5th is about target saturation. 2 Dps achieves this better than Kharn. And its not like the die before doing anything (unless youre as unlucky as me when it comes to dangerous terrain tests) - facing gunline mech IG they will normally get to lines, wreck some crucial tanks, THEN die. By that point my rhinos are in your face....

I never buy direct from GW. Local shops have deals that rival those of Ebay. I once got a Screaming Skull Catapult (50 bucks if bought new) for 5 bucks.

I just got my first batch of mini's. It looks like they're the metal ones. I have 7. One has a sword and another has a plasma gun. Not sure if the sword is any better than a dagger.

It use to be a plague Sword in the 3.5 Codex. In the new edition it's either just a CCW like the knives, or a Power sword if you're willing to spring for the points.

Very cool. I can't wait to give it a try. Green stuff is very expensive though. Do you guys know anywhere to buy it in those big tubes like he had? My local game store only has a small pack for like 10$ which we currently have, but using that much will add up quickly.

There are many routes to making rhinos for Plague Marines. I tend to take broken down rhinos for other factions, spray them with goof off (which dissolves part of the plastic leaving it looking corroded), apply some dents and broken panels via a knife, some basic "flesh" sculpts, then paint it up with a dirty "disease" (basically a mix of green, black and brown calligraphy inks I buy at a local art store. it runs unevently over the surface, leaving it stained. Combined with a drybrush of copper paint makes the model look like it's rusting and dripping grease) wash.

I see people selling DPs of Slaanesh and DPs of Khorn. Is there actually a difference, or is it just the way it's painted?

Normally you would want the DP to be obviously one god or another. For example Axes are pretty much "Khornes weapon of choice", (see bloodthirster, bezerker chain axes) so are a good indicator. Slaanesh can be more muted colours, possibly slightly androngenous if some conversion work has been done.

it's largely cosmetic, which can range from actual weapons and appearance to a simple palette swap. However if you want to claim your pink prince is a Khornate prince, there is no RAW forbidding it.

That's cool. So would it be more advantageous to have two different kind of DPs or having both the same? I also read the book and I'm not sure I understand the Nurgle DPs spell.

P.S. I wasn't able to respond yesterday cause I ended up having to work 15 hours. xD

I run 2 khorne (if i have the points) princes, however other than being cheap he is fairly terrible. Giving him warp time instead of MoK would be FAR more effective, killing wise.

Double lash menas that odds are, even with a psychic hood, at least one useful lash is going off per turn.

While your correct about Khorne princes, not "all" Prince builds are Lashprince...i myself run a winged Nurgle DP with warptime.

Yeah, I run a Winged Tzeentch one with Doombolt and BOC.

Rhinos are win. Use them. Also, I advise having Terminators- basically a super souped up version of a basic squad.

Ah, warptime was the spell that I was confused about (now that I have my codex with me).

I'm not sue I quite understand it, does it just mean if I roll say 5 attack dice, if I don't like some of the dice I can re-roll if I roll all 5?

Warptime, as far as I understand it, allows you to reroll any failed dice rolls (i.e: you get 5 attacks and need a 3+ to hit, 3 dice comes up as 3, 5 and 6, while the other two end up as 1's. You are allowed to reroll the two dices that came up as 1's and if the new result is a 3+, they count as hit. Same goes for Wound).

Those kind of deals was how I got my Chaos Army off the ground. However I wouldnt say they're the best. You get cheap models but you're also playing with someone else's army, and will probably not be accustomed to their tactics. Buy deals with units that you want for yourself.

there are several "Rogue Trader" independent retailers around. One popular one is Maelstrom Games, who provide free shipping (and no tax if you dont live in the UK) anywhere in the world. However, again, they can't realy compete with the prices of used armies.

Give your painted minis a soak in Simple Green for a day or so and the old paint should scrub right off, then you can repaint the minis any way that you'd like.

There are various "soaks" people use to strip their minis,I just happen to prefer Simple Green as it's always worked very well for me,and yes it works fine for both Plastic and Metal.

It will stain the metal badly, but as far as I know it will not damage it unless you leave the metal bit soaking in there for over 2 months (in which case it will literally rust to dust, as I unfortunately found out when I forgot part of my attack bike in there).

Some people endorse Pine Sol. Avoid. It. Like. The. Plague. I tried it on my plastics once. not only did it only remove a tiny amount of paint, it actually dissolved the plastic under the paint (somehow). I was furious with it.

Just as an update, what I'm using right now seems to be working pretty quickly and doesn't seem to be damaging the plastic mini at all. I'm using Dawn Power Dissolver. I just sprayed it on and left it for an hour then got out an old unopened firm bristle toothbrush and just brushed most of the paint off. I didn't get the back of the gun (looks kinda like an m60) so I had to respray. I'll let ya know how it works out in the end.
