I think that the paint style is funny...just because that's how I paint my Warriors of Chaos! But White> Badab Black> Asurmen Blue. I also apply wash as needed to other areas, ie yellows are Gryphon Sepia, browns Devlan Mud etc. I also toyed with a Purple wash and it came out really nice. What you may want to try with a test ork is Ogryn Flesh, I find it gives a really nice organic tone to the skin.

Another MA player! I'm out in Western MA, and haunt Off the Wall and Basecamp...though I've been seen a few times at Greenfield Games myself

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Do you use Thraka green over or under Ogryn flesh? Or do you (gasp) not use green at all and have brown orks?

I first prime them black. I then base paint them Knarloc Green, then wash with Devlan Mud followed by Ogryn Flesh That's when I'm speed painting, and they come out nice.

Ohhh - ok. I use nothing but washes not counting the primer or metal bits or the white checks. I did not want to paint another horde army. I still havent recovered from painting my Tyranid Endless Swarm

Awesome

my only thought is you could put vertical steel banding on the dread bodies to make them look more like barrels of grog

Those melee weapons are entirely too clean to be wielded by orks. Where's the blood, guts, and grime? Surely you don't think an ork would ever clean anything they own...

Thin your paints, drill your gun barrels, remove all mold lines. The Emperor wills it.

I don't blame you kaiser! If the washes were out when I started Orks I would have done the same. Foundation paints weren't out either, and it was a whole lot of layers of green and I play Bad Moonz so it was layers and layers of Yellow as well....
