it doesn't take a degree in a science (which i have) to realise this is science fiction not science and any discussions can be had relatively easily if you use the rule sci-fi canon trumps actual science.

please look up what taboo actually means, its not a taboo subject, its a closed subject. the index astrates making a space marine article (one presented with no bias) is very clear, why do people not get that.

well my home brew chapter actually uses a squad of Female "space Marines" They don't have the genetic modifications, but due to their status with the by then chapter master, they were given the right to wear power armor and fight in the emperors name. Though it has caused a few clashes with the eclisiarch

also on birthing space marines wasn't there a book about a CSM birthing factory on one world? Cold steel? Iron something or another?

Dead Sky Black Sun-Graham McNeil iirc

The reason there are female guardsman is the same reason why there are female marines nowadays, and why (in the U.S.) if/when the draft is reinstated, it will be changed to include women.
They are more soldiers to throw into the meat grinder, another body to be used as cannon fodder.
Also many worlds have traditions involving Amazon equivalents, or a matriarchal society, and thus the females are stronger than the males on that world.

^That's a less-than-accurate description, seeing as the U.S. Army is an entirely volunteer force.

Getting back to OP's question, I think there's plenty of room to do what you're thinking of. Romance amongst the Tau isn't very well-covered(someone enlighten me if I'm wrong) and may prove pretty kooky.

I think the eldar might work better than the tau, for some reason I have a thought of the tau kinda just being told who to be with by the ethereals.
