Of course, it could just be skewed numbers--but it's still kinda mindblowing to think that.
It makes sense though. Most murder victims are not the result of a random attack but of crimes of passion and angry conflicts that require people to be already acquainted. People worry about being stabbed by some gang in the street, statistically you're more likely to be killed by your partner. It's very much the case with child abuse, the media whip people into a terror over the possibility of a stranger snatching a child from the playground, but statistically such things are much more likely to committed by family members and friends who already know and have access to your children. The meaningless attack by a stranger is rare.

All adds to the mystery.
Two possibilities that spring to mind:
- she was being taken from her flat under duress
- she was with someone who had their own set of keys
Or 3, she forgot, is also a possibility.

The landlord has been arrested.
This would make all kinds of sense, primarily because he had access to the flat. Telling the police he saw three people leaving his building (one of which "may have been joanna") would be an obvious attempt to throw the police off the scent.
He looks dodgy too...

I dunno, he looks physically weak. I mean, the dude is pretty old, and unless he's been keeping himself in good shape I doubt he could carry off a healthy woman and murder her just like that. Sure, he looks creepy, but so do lots of people.
Having said that, if she was somewhat inebriated, it may have been more possible for him to have done the deed.

You do know how easy it is to carry someone right? Firemans carry or even the ol wedding night carry makes it very easy to carry heavy people. I can over the should my brother the giant, its not easy, but he is twice my size. Trust me that guy could carry her with little problem. Not to mention she knew him, I bet the guy said oh hey can you help me real quick? That would get her out of the apartment without her stuff easy enough, she probably didnt think anything of it seeing as she knew the guy.

It's easy provided you aren't an old dude. But yeah, I see what you mean.
Hmmm... I suppose it might be worth checking this guy's past, just to be sure. After all, as y'say, he presumably knew her very well.

He's certainly undergoing trial by media in the UK. The attorney general had to tell the newspapers to behave themselves yesterday in order to avoid prejudicing any trial that may or may not arise from these proceedings.
That and trial by media has spectacularly blown up in their faces in the past, the most notable being Colin Stagg who was fingered for the Wimbledon Common murder. He was hounded by the media who were convinced it was him because he matched the psycological profile that was drawn up. It was only a decade later that DNA finally proved who was actually responsible (Robert Napper). Cue lots of muttered apologies from the tabloid press.

He does have a certian " I have Bodies in my basement" look about him (course I've heard the same about me,so that proves nothing).
But he does look a bit to old to overpower a healthy young woman under normal circumstances.

He'd have to hit her pretty damn hard to knock her out. That and there'd be blood.
But yeah, actually, that's a fairly feasible method of kidnapping.

That's true enough, did the police reports indicate any sort of blunt force trauma to her head?

Well, it's nice to try your brains against a good puzzle, and there's no greater puzzle than a murder. You even get a feeling of being good, as you're trying to solve a crime.
Course, that might just be me.

Indeed.
I do wonder if it was the landlord. As I said earlier, somehow I'm not convinced. It's not like I have any knowledge of exactly why they arrested him like, but it's just a gut thing.
Mind you, I didn't think Ian Huntley did it either. So my instincts are clearly a little off.

What motive did the landlord have?
Call it a quaint notion but he’s innocent until proven guilty.

Yea but even a gangly old fella can strangle someone with a phone cord or similar. Besides when you do kill someone, specially like that, youd get such a rush from it, lugging a woman around would be rather easy. Really though, I want to know where the hell that pizza went. MAYBE she was having an affair with the old bugger, she ate it with him, and then wanted to break it off, so he strangled her.
Very soap opera I know, but weird things happen

Having an affair with Doc Brown there? Unlikely. It's possible that sex was a motive, though; frustrated, perhaps, by rejection, the guy could conceivably have committed murder.
