A better term would be Xenophobia. Because to truly be a racist you have to hate the race… all of it. The Human Race. DEF: “Xenophobia” The fear/dislike/distrust of things different from you or your culture.

But people don’t say - “Man that dude is Xenophobic!” Which would be accurate… they say “Racist” because they want to make it about “Them” and how “They” were wronged. Racism implies ownership. I can’t get a job because someone doesn’t like the color of my skin… really? So no one but white people work there? Unlikely.

Besides the skin colors in the 41st mil, would all but have disappeared due to "intermingling" so if you are asking if Black People are still oppressed in the 41stK? Nope... because statistically, given the prominence and dominance of the "Negroid" gene (and dont freak out about me saying "Negroid", it is the accurate genetic term for it, not a slur). Everyone will have what we refer to as "Black" features.

Personally I imagine we'll all be varying shades of beige in the future

Not so sure about that... Current population statistics indicate that the Asian and Latine genetic codes are the most prevalent.

Racism does not have to because of skin color, however. Nationality works just as well; accents no doubt vary between planets. Someone with a particular accent or different clothing might not be addmited to a bar.

Racism is very small in 40k. just like Warork put it. Yeah the galaxy is try kill each other.

Think of all the IG, SoB, and MEQ armies out there. How many (not including salamanders) are black?
I've seen none that aren't in kill teams.

maybe you should actually understand what racism is.

Add this to the fact that we are talking about the IoM at large not the tiny proportion of worlds GW has released models for.

(space marines should play no part in talking about skin colour anyway seeing as they have no fixed skin colour due to their enhancements.)

That has nothing to do with the 40K universe and everything to do with personal preference. As the vast majority of gamers are caucasian or asian including the people who put these games together, then why would there be a whole bunch of black characters and armies when there is so much to chose from from the cultures (both current and historic) of the people who dominate the games and quite frankly the people who have dominated military history.

Labelled by whom? the salamanders are a deviation from normal space marine stock due to the defect in one of their glands.

no IG force trusts any commissar, its not because he is from Tallarn, its because he has a gun and is legally allowed to shoot anyone he thinks is 'lacking'

The salamanders are mutants. They aren't black in the way we know it. Their gene seed is corrupted and givens them pure black skin and red eyes.

This. Though I think this is more to do with their viotile enviroment (the homeworld) than a gene seed defect.

I think it would vary depending on the branches of the IoM, the average citizen will prob be dealing with racism and all commonly, but as it seems when you go into the Military branches(IG, Inquisition, etc.) I could see it being less in less common since in the military, that different colored guy could be the last guy watching your back in a firefight thus building a kind of brotherhood. The Astartes I could see it being completely absent since they all become brothers of there primarch and really only care how much of a badass you are when choosing inanities

I wonder, in 40K, when does skin color stop being natural genetic variance and start becoming mutation?
i.e. White, yellow, black= ok
Green, blue or neon red= PURGE!!!!

Yes, by definition racism does exist in the 40k universe.

YES of course it does as racism is naturaly part of evreyone and can't be stopped or wiped out and the divergence of living in different places in the galaxy would be astronomical and we have proof of it because GW has discontinued the squats
