Been playing my wolves since 2nd or 3rd. My excuse/fluff for my current list is that my Wolf Lord takes the hunter's approach to battle. On arrival at a battle front, he looks for the biggest, nastiest beastie and goes for that. He only picks the warriors that can move fast (to keep up with him on his TW) and hit hard as part of this 'Hunting Spear'. Hence small squads, razorbacks, long fangs and TWC.

Opinion of someone else's list and fluff is, like most opinions, very subjective.
