There are no heroes in war... not real war.

Even though many governments do their best to glorify it and gloss over the statistics and loss.

We have the right to be treated as human fracking beings! The same as you do and don't forget that!

With the help of the LGBT folk in my place of residence I would have been beaten to a plup years ago. It all started really with the Stonewall Riots due to the heavy handed tactics of the police at the time.

Whether you would or would not deck them for that charge doesn't really decide one way or another if you deserve the description.

Of course spending time in jail for assault does wonders for finding a job, respect, ect

Depends on the job.

What?

This soldier hasn't fought to protect any of these kids, or their chance for an education, unless they were actually over there with him. Neither Afghanistan nor Iraq actually has the resources to launch an attack on the United States. They never have.

On the other hand, if you're talking about the terrarrs, two wars in the middle east and an atrocious amount of civilian deaths have made terrorist attacks more likely, not less.

...Screw it, I don't care.

No kidding... I once questioned the validity of someone's generalization of "all them white boys are racist" (sic)... then I was compared to a KKK member for my troubles.

As much as I wish these scum would get theirs, I know that this hero will be the bigger man and soldier on.

As for the ROTC issue, I have nothing to say, other than that I hope both sides can find an amicable solution.

You should have said they were assuming all white people were KKK was racist. It doesn't make any damn sense at all but it doesn't have to.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

There is a book called "Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card--and Lose" by Larry Elder. He illustrates points just like you dealt with Mellissia. It has applications beyond what is considered black culture, and yes, he is black.

From amazon: "Elder advocates personal responsibility and hard work in this book, as opposed to the constant victim ideology espoused by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton."

Anyways, on topic, I do not think the snippet I heard from this thread was racist, just a poorly wrapped join up speech that had nothing to do with ROTC. He was probably coached to say a few things of that nature. Good soldiers do what they are told. It came out as if ROTC was a tangent to the agenda of scare tactics, that portion of his speech had nothing to do with ROTC. "Bad people are planning to kill you in your sleep from all over the world" got an audible laugh from the crowd. I am sure he knows what he said was off topic, and may even regret it. Other points he made were pretty good, college is expensive, it is a for profit business in most cases.

In 2005, when the university last voted to reject ROTC's return, it cited the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
