so people in a rhino could never shoot at infantry because they are shorter than the hull of the rhino. yet people shoot at infantry all the time from the top hatch. so if you allow people in rhinos to shoot at anything that is less than 2" tall, the question is how high is the person shooting out of the fire point? if its more than 1/2" then the turret prorbably doesnt matter.

I just put a 1/2" tall bobbin 6-3/4" to the side on my Chimera, got down and looked across the rear-top hatch; I could see the bobbin(just barely).
I did the same experiment with a
SW model; you can see his head from 2-1/2" from the edge of the hatch.
Yes, that is putting my pupil level with the hacth, and my entire face on the opposite side of the chimera.
LOS is not an exact line, it is what you can see from the vantage of the firer. Also there is about a 1/2mm rise in the model where the Hatch is, it is not flush with the back of the Chimera.
