I'm fairly sure the point of his post is that he wants that to happen. He wants someone to come and prove him wrong, and until someone does I'll think Dash has decent advice to give. If you want to prove him wrong, how about actually doing it instead of just sniping?

When I win it is because I am a genius masterful tactician with carefully laid plans and my opponent is not as awesome as I.
When they win it is because I have bad luck, or they have a newer codex.

I'm sorry, I am still sifting through the ego and the actual point of the post. If he did claim to want someone to take him down not once but as an actual usurper then I missed it but otherwise I just read it as he wanting someone to actually bother offering a challenge instead of clubbing seals all the time with his Rommel like strategy.

I *am* arrogant...
I have a few questions for you...
Are you 5'6" or shorter? Were you abused as a child? Do you drive a Hummer? Is your genitalia measured in eighths of an inch? Do you have daddy issues or something?
Just curious. Some of your posts just beg those kinds of questions.
I'm 73" tall (6' 1"). I was abused as a child - I suffered two broken adoptions because of abuse and was raised in the foster care system. I ran away to the army when I was 18, later went to and graduated from West Point damn near the top of my class. I debated (yes, master debater) and broke a bunch of collegiate records. I don't drive a hummer, I drive a Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse Convertible. My genitalia is not measired in eighths of an inch. While I was on the dating scene, I actually *didn't* get any sometimes because of size issues, something I'm grateful that my wife has gotten used to. I make in excess of $100,000 per year, and have an important sounding title at my company. I never had a daddy, nor cared where I came from.
Anything else?
Here's the thing. I tell it like it is. I give advice based on my experiences, which are generally more expansive than most other folks. Few people travel as much for tournaments, 40k events, or get around as much as I do, let alone take pictures, write battle reports, and try communicating their tactical insights from each game to other people. Now that we're getting back into the GT season, my camera is warming up for new series of battle reports.
BECAUSE I tell it like it is, and because I'm successful, a lot of folks get butt-hurt. Most people are sheep, and if someone rises above them, rather than trying to match and elevate themselves, they'd prefer to pull down the riser. I announce that I'm better. That's right. Radical, I'm a better gamer than you. A better tactician, a better player, probably better looking, more insightful, I make more money, I get laid more often....<insert more spew here>. Without saying any of those things, that's the message that comes across in my advice-dispensing posts. Intentionally. I don't want to have to write 6 paragraphs explaining a tactical point REPEATEDLY in thread after thread - because ultimately the same stuff gets posted on Dakka over and over. Instead, I want to say, "Do it X way. It works. Look to my signature for proof." I stopped posting in Army lists because its the same lists, over and over and over. No one researches. Like this thread - the OP would rather speak than listen. There are a dozen+ threads identical to this one - but instead of looking for them, we get a new thread.
I put myself on a pedestal and proclaim myself superior because I *want* to be taken down. Not by trolls, but by people who can prove me wrong. When I say, "Warbikers don't deserve a spot in ANY competitive list," I'm saying it to provoke someone to prove me wrong, because I've not found a use for them, and genuinely want to see if someone can make them perform.
This particular topic....I stand by what I said. Codex is mostly irrelevant - it comes down to the player. I'm arrogant, and supremely confident in my abilities. I know full well that I should be more humble. But I demand to *be* humbled.
If you're out of your 20s, then I'm willing to bet that my age-adjusted life-o-meter is very near to yours, and I have this to say: 40k is an amateur hobby. It's unregulated and there's no money in it. The 'competitive pool', so to speak, is thin, not only with regards to total population but also the exposure of tournament-goers within the player base.
To be the 'best' player at a series of totally transparent, linear, Yougo/Igo unregulated amateur hobby events is akin to being the tallest midget in a minority pool of other midgets.
I'm not disputing your competency within the given context, you've obviously found something that works, what I dispute is the veracity of your conclusion given the context itself. There is no professional circuit for GW games. Nobody makes money playing 40k. No sponsorships are flying you out to Berlin to compete in continental events. If you win every single "major" event that you are a part of, then counting prize pool, travel expenses, and time loss, you are looking at negative net return.
And in that spirit, I salute you. You are one tall midget.

While I'll never claim to be a top tier player on the GT circuit, I do consider myself to be a top local player. I have seen all of Dash's posts and thought to myself "I sure would like to play this guy and see if it's all ego.". Imagine my suprise when lo and behold, he shows up to one of our local tournaments in January.Turns out he relocated to a town a couple hours south of mine. Well, I made a point of setting it up where I would play him first round. Let me tell you, He walks the walk as much as he talks the talk. So just a bit of advice: Listen to what he has to say about tactics, he knows his stuff. Hating on the man doesn't change that.
Also, Don't let his posts throw you.He is quite a nice guy in person!

I like to remind people that sometimes, when a person seems extremely strenous about convincing you about some aspect of their personality, they are actually trying to convice themselves.

Dash usually has good advice. It's placed in the most ridiculous wrapper imaginable, but such is life. If you're getting "stung", it really speaks more to your delicate sensibilities than anything else; it's all standard king-of-the-geek-hill stuff.
As far as tiers, there are 2.
A good player can win a tourney with any of several lists from most armies, except for Necrons, Daemonhunters, Witch Hunters, and Tau. In these cases your list will require much more planning, but winning is still eminently doable. As Dash said, winning with a Wych Cult has been doable, and in a similar vein, I've seen a Necron player table BA in 3.5 turns due to some bad drops. As mentioned by others, though, Dash is hardly an "average" player.
As far as armies with lists that offer the most flexibility over a variety of mission types, which might be a tier unto its own... IG/SW/BA/DE and I see some Ork, Tyranid, and Eldar players with all-comers lists that are very impressive.
Summary: I think we're talking differences in ease-of-use and tactical flexibility. These are important factors, and could be interpreted as a "stronger" codex. What it is, is more foolproof. What I don't know, if if Ork/Eldar/Tau players want a Codex that is "stronger" (whatever that means) or a codex that will be more forgiving with mistakes.
