Have had both the Sabol and the Battlefoam at my shop. I compared both and the Battlefoam is the better quality bag. (Cost is much less of an issue with me since I own a store, get it wholesale, and can pretty much write off the cost since I do business at Trade Shows.)

I use a 720 for smaller armies, and have a 1520 for GT's. I really love the 1520. It rolls, is a table to put my stuff on during a game, and holds all my stuff easily. I can put a pack plus and 216 on top, with dice, tapes, rulebooks in the plus, and paint load out in the 216 with glue and tools for repairs. Very versitile system, and I like towing it vs. packing it.

Just got my PACK 432 today. I also have a KR Multicase Single Aluminum case, and all I can say is that Battlefoam is the sex. I'm very pleased with the product, and the customer service was great. Definitely going to pick up a 720 in the not too distant future.

Runnin up on ya.

The deal killer for me with battlefoam is the 2-3 week lead time on production.... I was going to order some regular trays and was about to click the button to process the order when I saw the blurp that said "I understand the there is a 2-3 week window on most orders."

I said to myself "WTF?" and ordered from KR, got order confirmation and shipping the next day. 2-3 weeks? I don't know why you people bow down to battlefoam so much; they make a good product, I'm sure but foam is foam and waiting over a month to get the foam is ridiculous.

If it's what you want, waiting 2-3 weeks is not big deal. Battlefoam does a ton of custom orders. If what you order is in stock and a standard tray, it will probably go out much quicker than if they have to cut the foam to fill your order. They put a standard disclaimer in because some orders are going to take longer. What you find 'ridiculous' others have the patience for.)

The only question I have is how 2-3 weeks = over a month.)

Meh. I've got no problem waiting a bit for something but when ordering something that is supposedly a standard piece of merchandise sold by the manufacturer, directly, it's a bit sad that it would take 2-3 weeks before it even shipped. It harkens back to the day of mail-order madness when TV commercials and magazine ads often had the disclaimer "Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery."

For me, as a consumer with no interest in one company or another and all things being equal, I will purchase foam from the company with the lowest price, best quality and can get it to me within the time frame I desire. If a company is unable to do that, that's fine. If other people are happy to wait, good for them but my priorities differ and I am well able to vote with my wallet so to speak.

As to the month thing, figure 3 weeks to produce and a week to ship = 1 month (granted on the long end).

My battlefoam order shipped a few days after I placed the order and arrived slightly over a week from when I clicked the send payment button. Granted I was buying predesigned foam, but still, my experience was excellent.

I was buying predesigned foam as well, just a generic foam tray and got this message that I had to agree to in order to process the order (emphasis mine):
I understand production time for most orders is 2-3 weeks. Custom trays and custom bag orders require 3-4 weeks for production. Custom designed trays, trays with text and toppers with text or logos cannot be returned or exchanged under any circumstance unless due to a manufacturer defect.

Without that blurp, they would have received my money. I have no problem with them, having never ordered from them, but if standard trays don't take 2-3 weeks to process, why put that there?

Anywho, maybe I'll try them again next time, when I'm not in a hurry.

The 720 is unavailable until June 6 with a 2-3 week processing time on custom trays after that plus shipping time.

Ouch.

I ordered right before adepticon, supposedly one of their busiest times and I got my foam in a week. Their trays are more than worth it, very well constructed.

I expect their stock is a bit thin and being built back up. Adepticon is a big drain, and I suspect I wasn't alone in placing a large order at the first of April, stocking up before the dryspell.

@agnosto

It's a generic message. It shows up for all orders, regardless what you're ordering. I'm not saying it's impossible to have the message only come up at certain times (based on the order placed), but I'm certain that it's a more expensive option to implement.

Also, the Mail Order people on TV still use that disclaimer.

Not difficult really because they could have incorporated it into the code within a few lines, something that tells the website that if order = x, message = y. I could code that myself and I don't even make a living with HTML. My guess is that it's just easier to have all orders with the same disclaimer; it just served to push me to another business. I know I'm in the minority and that's fine but even if I'm a representative of 10% of potential customers, it adds up and for something that would be easily avoided with a bit of effort. They've got images of piles of foam all over their website yet state that even the most basic order averages 2-3 weeks to prepare and then assume another week for shipping.

I harbor no ill will towards battlefoam, or any company for that matter, but as a consumer I make my personal shopping decisions based upon my wants and needs. If a competitor is able to come through without the extended production time, I'll take my custom to them. Quality isn't a huge issue with me unless it's extemely shoddy; I play about 2 times per month and my models sit in the climate controlled splendor of the closet in the hobby room of my house the rest of the time and transport is just from my car to the FLGS so my needs are minimal (YMMV).

I might try them again when I plan my next army (looking at Tyranids maybe) and see where they're at then.
