Tau.

I started when they came out. Sadly, I never actually made a Tau army, but I love those models. I left a couple years ago due to ridiculous pricing from GW.

I'm back now to make some KoS Orks. I can get AoBR orks from ebay cheap and I can scratch build my own vehicles to boot. Orks are fun, relatively cheap and there's always a lot of 40K players.

The first unit I ever bought was a Cadian Heavy Bolter team. I didn't know anything about the background of the game or how to play it. I just bought it because it looked so b.a. A few months later my brother got into 40k with grey knights, which helped bring me into what the entire game was actually about.

well origionally it was chaos space marines, I changed my mind and bought the tyranid codex. Somehow I ended up having a dark eldar army. I would be lying if I said I knew how in the hell that happened.

Arlington TX, but want to be back in Seattle WA

I think the first unit I ever purchased was a 2nd edition space marine tactical squad for the blood angels. All 10 models were pewter. It was only after this first purchase that I realized the red spray paint citadel offered back then left you characters in a neon orange hue, nothing even close to red!

Battle Sisters. I saw them and then came the "I want an army of those" moment.

Of course it makes sense. When there are a bunch of BDSM clowns doing Olympic gymnast routines throughout your unit, while also cutting off heads, you tend to get a bit distracted.

I started playing in 1993. My first GW purchase was the original Space Hulk. So, it was Space Marine Terminators that hooked me.

Necrons in general from the Dawn of War PC game. That was my first instance of anything warhammer. A couple years later some friends get me into WHFB since therewas a Vampire army, and then they shifted to 40k. When they did, I stuck to what was cool in the PC title, the Necrons. Still my favorite army to this day.

For me it wasn't actually a 40k unit that got me into the game, but rather my Escher gangers from Necromunda. ENjoyed the hell out of that game and then fell in love with the eldar model line and dove into the larger fray.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there are only rules disputes.

lol me too.

I always envisioned a Battlesuit grabbing a space marine by the arm and jumping 50 feet into the air and dropping him for CC haha

"AM are bunch of half human-half robot monkeys who keep tech working by punching it with a wrench And their tech is so sophisticated that you could never get it wrapped it out" thing a LITTLE to seriously. It also goes "Tau tech is so awesome I wish I was Tau and not some stupid Human" thing.

That would defintely be the Stompa. It was this truly massive and seemingly unstoppable warmachine, I just couldn't resist. Then I saw the Bio-Titan for 'Nids and that really put the rest of the game in perspective.
