Hah! I think you guys are failing to understand what 'commute' means. Your commute is the distance you travel to get to your place of work, not the distance you travel whilst working, lol.

Aircraft crew can actually commute around the world to get to their next job. Some pilots/aircrew may live in Scotland and commute to London or Manchester to fly out around the world.

Sadly I know this as I saw it on Relocation, Relocation, Relocation (or one of those other housing programs ).

Ah, now, commuting from Scotland to London, in order to start work, that's a commute, yes.

I wouldn't call it around the world though, haha. 45mins on the plane.

I believe that truckers can also commute long distances to get to their next load if the timetabling/etc isn't so great.

Though that could be of pretty much any distance.

I used to work for an oil company.
My longest commute was 9,000 miles (one way, not round trip)
Now I work in Saudi Arabia, as a military contractor, my daily commute is around 50Km, and petrol costs me $0.98 for a (US) Gallon.
