I'm surprised you didn't convert the dreadnoughts more to give them a more pre-heresy feel such as extending the legs and converting the autocannons on the end of a mechanical arm?

Also why model the death cult assassins as marines? Won't that be a bit confusing for your opponents cause they look like falchion armed grey knights?
You'd be better of having thall wizards (psykers) and warriors (Prospero spire guard) for your henchmen squads, but if your going to stick with assassins in your army you need to ditch the power armour to avoid confusion.

Anyway... I like the psyrifle dreads, besides that the connectors to the body seem to long and out for me, but just a personal thing, I suppose. I like your death cult assassins, but don't they only have a 4 or 5+ armour save, if any? Just a question I've got.

I approve of your Sons. Kaesar II

That is a great idea about the metal in a Space Marines head. Though given the choice I would keep my damn helmet on, lol.

The connectors are ammo feeds. I think they look less long painted. I'll have an update on them soon. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks more updates to come soon. I have been converting and painting my butt off.

I wish I could have taken more time on the Dreadnoughts but I have a time constraint with the Bay Area Open in a couple of weeks and as I have mentioned above these will eventually be traded for Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts from Forgeworld.

I agree that the save could be confusing on the Death Cult Assassins but in this case I surrendered to the fluff. I plan on taking pictures of the finished models and putting them on my army list with Army Builder. Also to alievate confusion I will make a laminated poster with all the units on it.

This army will contain Psykers and Acolyte Warriors and I have already made those models. I did go with the Prospero Spire Guard for both. I have a few warriors with Bolters and the others will be used for Psykers as in the Thousand Sons many of the Spire Guard had Psychic powers. They will be seen in the next couple updates. Thank you for the great comments.

Thank you for looking and I will take this time to update you all.

This has been a week of little sleep. My Local store is having what they call a Battle Royal, a 1500 point tournament this weekend so I have been cramming in modeling and painting. Also as I have mentioned the Bay Area Open is next week so I have to have 1850 points of Thousand Son goodness done by then. I also just found out that 'Ard Boys is just around the corner too.

I did buy a cheap airbrush and used it to base coat many models. I must say that I will never go back. I will always base coat with the airbrush from no on. That easily save me two whole days of work and I like how they turned out. You will get to see the results soon.

So I have a passel of models that I have made.

My Xenos Inquisitor - He is to run with my Death Cult unit to provide grenade support. I shamelessly stole the head idea from HF Izanagi and love the way it turned out. Also used bits from the Blood Angles Sanguinary Guard, Chapter House Studio Thousand Sun Shoulder Pads, Kromlech Khopesh Vibro Swords and the Dark Angels Chapter Upgrade sprue.

Next I made a counts as Jakaero. I did not want a Space Monkey in my Pre-Heresy army. So I made him one of the Raptora Cult the Thousand Sons who are telekinetic. He is made of the parts of the Sargent from the Space Marine Devastator Squad and a Grey Knights head. I did reposition his hands and arms and made his backpack look more like a Techmarine.

I needed three servitors with Plasma Cannons. Games workshop does not make that model and I think that servitors just don't look epic enough so I justified my use of Devastators in their place as follows. In the Thousand Sons they use robots a couple of times. Why couldn't the robots look like Space Marines. Perhaps it was easier to use suits of armour as a base?

For these three Devastators I used bits from Space Marine Devastator Squad and Grey Knights. I am particularly fond of the first battle bot with his low slung converted Plasma cannon from the Stormraven kit.

Whatever the case here they are.

Within this squad are also my Warrior Acolytes. I have three with Bolters. They are made with Imperial Guard Cadian Shock Troop, Space Marine Tactical Squad, and [url="http://kromlech.eu/?p=364"Kromlech Human Armoured Torsos & Backpacks[/url].

Lastly, to go with my Death Cult Assassins I needed 4 Crusaders. These will have a "Kine Shield" that will be mounted in front of the figure with a special base. For now I will show you what they look like at stage 1.

Each is made up of GW Grey Knights bits, Robed torsos from the Dark Angels Chapter Upgrade kit, Kromlech Stygian Two Handed Weapons and Scibor Egyptian Parts

These shield bearers will also come from the telepathic Raptora Cult

Here are a couple group shots of the figures above.

So for the next few days:

Have to paint everything I have modeled. Many are in various states of paint. All of the models are primed and base coated with the airbrush.

I still have to build around 18 of the Prospero Spire Guard and put cloaks on many to denote them a Psykers.

Last I have to build and paint one more Rhino of the Psykers above.

Thank you for looking.

I highly recommend you avoid this, a player took a kroot merc army to Throne Of Skulls in april using the nid codex and despite having pictures of the units on his army list he recieved a red card as all of the players from the first day had complained about his army being confusing. It looked awesome but all the models in his army were to familar; having a kroot with a rifle representing a termagaunt and then another weilding a knife as a genestealer didn't go down well at all. I love the kind sheild users and devastators but at the end of the day you have power armoured space marines representing t3 warriors with a 4+ save, so I fear you may have the same reaction.

I've been there with my previous renegade machine cult army and it's not pleasent recieving negative reactions to a project you've worked hard on. I've even used a reference sheet for it and trust me it's doesn't help that much as most players dislike being forced to use it, hence why I've shelved that army for the moment. You could try modelling the thousand son tularies perhaps?

Where you least expect it...

I think that you wouldent have any problems as long as you clerly explain what your units count as. That said, mayby you should find a exuse to use models that look more like 4+sv T3 such as servitors and assasins. BTW, whats the skull aquila doing on the guardsmans helmet? Its just a little detail, but you might need help spoting them. And, i think it goes without saying, but awsome imean realy realy awsome!!!

just because i'm swedish doesent mean that i'm blonde. I just hapen to be anyway

I hear what you are saying brother. I have play with this army at my local store and have not had any problems. I leave for the Bay Area Open tonight so I will just have to see. I did take the time to carefully explain each unit to all of my opponents. We will just have to see.

I am hoping the caps and dual power weapons are enough...

Thanks for pointing out the skull on the guardsmen's helmet. I actually made the helmets into Prospero Spire Guard helmets. See Below. Thank you!

You are correct. It is using the Gray Knights Codex with Inquisitorial Henchmen squads. I think I will be making a summary of the units that I will post on here soon. Thanks for checking this out.

First let me say Oh My Gosh!

I have done a ridiculous amount of work on these Thousand Sons trying to get them ready for this tournament. At last I have all of the models built, primed and most painted. After writing this I still have to paint 18 Psykers/ Prospero Spire Guard and a Rhino BEFORE I make the 3 hour drive to Antioch, CA. So this update will have to be short and to the point.

I decided to use Standard Guardsmen to represent the two 9 man squads of Psykers to round out my army. I put capes on each one to make the distinction that they are Psykers. One squad has the Prosper Spire Guard Helmets. The second squad I ran out of time and just had to finish them. They are both below.

I will be redoing the second squad but had to paint them up. Here what I have left to do to complete the army:

Paint the Psykers.
Do Detail work on all figures.
Paint both Rhinos
Flock, grass all bases
Flock Grass the Display Board.

So I can see the end coming. But today there is work to do.

Excellent updates- and great incorporation of the BA head shaved down for your =I=nq! I like the squads too... somewhat feeling an influence to flatten my beetle symbols for my 1Ks as well... I like the look, especially on the winged shoulder pads. They FIT really nicely.

Your newest spire-guard are looking pretty ace as well. Are the helmets done as-is with the GS strips? Also, could we get a back view on the capes?

Great work, man. Always a pleasure to see your progress.
