QFT I was in college back in 2000 (my second time i might add) and we went on a trip to the Barbican center, being 21 at the time I ordered a beer from the bar there (yes a bar in a museum sort of place) and it cost me like £7, 7 fracking quid! I was less than happy. Also £5 for a sickly looking sandwitch.... besides London an't all its cracked up be. Try Oxford, or abetter city that isn't a big crap hole on earth

Hah! Too right on the prices.
Me and a mate once stayed in a hotel off Oxford Street. They wanted 18 quid for a full english!!
Wandered down to the Yates' on Leicester Square and had breakfast and a cuppa for less than a fiver lol.

£18? Really, thats ridiculous.
I like London, i would be quite happy to get on a train tomorrow morning and spend the day there (probably shouldn't though, i have two lectures :S). But it seems quite a lot of people who have lived there for a while, don't enjoy it quite as much....

There are some town centres which have been made "no piss-up" zones.
In general, though, if you want to take a picnic hamper including alcoholic beverages to a public park you will have no problem.
Also, many pubs and restaurants have outside seating at the front, which obviously is in public.
In Canada if I were to walk down the street with an open beer in my hand I will get a ticket (not being a druken moron or anything like that). Over there?
Strange that doesn't happen here, I've seen guys drinking at a bus stop (obviously they didn't drink on the bus), also many people drink when having barbeques or in the summer.

Well if that BBQ was in someone's backyard then that's not public drinking. Bus stop though that's not allowed.

What about drinking in the front yard?

I don't think that most people would call the cops on you for drinking in public so long as you don't cause a disturbance, at least in the deep south of Canada (Kamloops), where we take the law into our own hands.

Not if you go to the Wetherspoons in Westminster!
Don't go to Wetherspoons. It's basically like drinking in an unemployment office, with the cast of the "Thriller" video.
Only they're not as well dressed.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Nor as well choreographed.

Local Councils have the legal power to establish controlled drinking zones where the police may confiscate alcohol if they consider you are being anti-social. There isn't a general law about it.
You can't drink on the underground.
