Subject: Brother Ronan
Location: Breifing room
Situation: Remaining in the shadows
Ronan remained in the alcove where he had initially been trying to remain unseen. The level of politics displayed by these human was worrying but needless to say he spent the time determining the abilities of each of these people. Had this of been an important gathering with important people he would have engaged them in conversation as gaining allies early on could be very important, as it happened they were all grunts and therefore he did not wish to waste his time. But he may or may not be paired with some of these poeple so he deemed it would be useful to be aware of who he could work with and who he'd need to watch his back with.
He was suprised at his own distaste for these human, the homeworld he ailed from and protected was an Imperial World, his Chapter even had good relations with the inhabitants even if other Chapters kept their distant due to the Elite Guards ... history. He even doubted that anyone would know his Chapter, for his Chapter remained in the shadows for the most part.
He noted those that were firey and those that were level headed. He was equally suprised at the sheer friendlyness of the Techpriest, his chapter had a good relation with Mars but he had never personally seen one that was friendly, even the Tech Marines in his own Chapter were less friendly.
As many of them were now sitting down it would only be a matter of time before he was spotted, so rather than be riled bythe tackless ones in the group he decided to make the first move. Moving shiftly he walked out from the shadowy alcove and promtply sat down in the chair barely a metre in front of him.

Rally put her hands over her mouth stopping a sneeze, (man this place is a bit dusty). she looks around the mish-mashed crowd of Astartes, Mechanus, and stormtroopers, could that be an imperial assassin taking a seat? She looks around and finds an empty chair near by the guards women with the flamer. "Ah nothing like the smell of promethium in the morning, ey," Rally said with a grin.

Wilson felt so pleased that he had managed to calm things, or at least prevented a fellow Guard being mauled by a Space Marine, that he didn't notice that an Arbite had joined the briefing, he gave her a nod of welcome, then returned to his seat, moving his kitbag to the floor so she could join him. He exmained her out of the corner of his eye as he returned his cleaning tools to his bag, she wore what looked like carapace armour, but the sheer number of pistol holsters attached to her frame made it difficult to determine. He then realized she had spoken to him, nodding at his flamer with a smile. "Promethium?" he said, returning the grin, "That's alright I suppose, though the Heretics an Xenos that embrace the Phoenix smell far worse. Thats why i have this." He tapped the Rebreather at his belt, "keeps out the unclean and the smoke of my work." Wilson extended his hand, "Specialist David Wilson, Formerly a member of the Ferosian First Heavy Rifles, Combat Engineer by trade. Pleased to meet you, Arbite."

Furn focused on swapping any parts that looked to badly damaged in her launcher with spears from the kit. Any watching would see she had a gift with on weapons or simple machines, but that not surprising given she said shes from a forge world that studies and restores any equipment they can recover. Mars was surprised when lost and forgotten weapons blueprints where sent from Draconia and every so often they send some random pattern to log or identify. So seeing a guardsmen with a skill to field repair there weapon from that world was refreshing tho she showed no concepts of the proper rites or prayers would trouble the teck priest.

Bored with the fight in the training room Zeta swiftly left the room and had arrived in the briefing room. The purpose of watching the fight had been to get some understanding of the people they would be working with, lest Zeta needed to impersonate them. Upon entering the room the assassin quickly noticed a couple of Astartes, probably brutish and as far from subtle as possible they would make perfect shields if needed, but Zeta decided not to jump to conclusions so quickly. With nothing to do but wait for yet another mission to start and be completed swiftly the assassin just glanced around the room.

Character: Mikal
Location: Meeting room
Situation: Waiting
Seeing that most of the others present were now sitting at the meeting table, Mikal himself also took a seat and waited politely for the briefing to start. Internally, he was glad that the small situation between the two guardsmen had diffused itself, Mikal would not have liked to get involved in such frivolous disputes. The last time he had been involved in such an argument between service members it had given him a few rather annoying lacerations. Mikal spent the time that he was not directly involved in the more budding conversation to continue the analysis of the group around him. It was incredible what one could tell about a person from their verbal musings, body language, pheromone levels and other such indicators.
Quietly, Mikal was mildly concerned of the stability of some of the members of the group, it seemed that the one known as Ghast, the trooper from Ousia if Mikal was not mistaken, was extremely resentful of his presence here and was venting that frustration towards his peers. Not a good prospect for the coherence of this team, Mikal thought, neither did the outlook of Brother Aygapus or the other Astartes attached to the group benefit the Inquisitor's cause. Mikal was sure that the Acolyte who was in charge of this mission's presence would soon change that, but until then, Mikal hoped that the malefactors' sense of duty would outweigh their sense of unrest.
Mikal also noticed the guardswoman Furn maintaining her piece and smiled to himself at her more practical and less ceremonial methods. They suited him fine, Mikal had never been a big advocate of of the techno religious aspect of the maintaining of the Omnissiah's gifts to humanity. Mikal subscribed to the more practical methods himself, yet another reason why his presence was disdainful to his superiors in the Mechanicus. Some of the more vocal Magi had gone so far to call Mikal a heretic but in his human heart, Mikal knew that was folly, he was loyal, steadfast, a servant to both Man and Machine. Mikal liked to think he had found a balance in both, something that most of his organization shunned in favor of the blessings of the priesthood that took the form of more metal and cogitators.
Mikal shook his head slowly, he recalled a few examples that put him more in mind of servants of the dark powers who fought for the evil blessings of their own lords. There was a line for everything and Mikal walked it where most crossed willingly....perhaps that quality was why the inquisitor had chosen him for this...

Character: Avare
Location: Personal Chambers
Situation: Prepping for meeting
Avare stepped out of the washing-block, the hydropumps coming on automatically to dry the water and sweat off her skin. A short warm shower after a training session was one of the few indulgences she allowed herself, and in addition to the wonderful feeling of physical energy, the running water helped sooth the torn nerve-endings on her right hand. Sometimes a single shower would mean no tremors in that hand all day.
Sparing a glance at the chronometer as she donned her bodyglove, then her Interrogator cloak, as well as arming herself with her laspistol, powersword and other regalia, Avare noted the time. 20:05. She should have started the meeting by now, the others would be waiting. Good, let them wait. Before long they would know full well that it was her who decided how this team operated. Her word would become law to them, her actions an example to follow. For those that didn't excel, for those that questioned, they would be left in the dust, dead or dying, and Avare would be damned if she so much as slackened her pace to allow the weaklings a chance to catch up.
As Avare exited her chambers, making her way through the marbled halls to the briefing room, she reflected on her team. Weakness, laxity or sloth would not be tolerated. Perhaps making an example of one early on would get the message across.

He took his cigar out of his mouth as Soric saw Avare entering the briefing room. Taking it out, he stood up, at attention. Though he didn't like being here, he did have to have some respect to the mission leader, because a disrespectful attitude towards her would surely lead to oblivion. Many of the others had already left the Training room to go to the briefing room. It was now 20:00 Terran hours and Ronan decided to join them. As he entered he saw no sign of the Inquistitor or Avare and giving a grunt of disgust he chose a seat where no-one would be next to him and promptly sat down.
As Avare entered the room 5 minutes late he watched as several of the Guardsmen stood to attention. He though remained seated. This Inquisitor held no power over him as he was here by request of his Chapter Master and not this Inquisitor woman. He did however give a respectful nod to the Avare as she glanced around the room to show that he at least respected her rank. He waited patiently to hear what she had to say on the mission at hand.

Their objective, the generators, were only a few corridors ahead, but something didn't feel right to Gaz. He wanted to go the longer route, but the others didn't listen. Gaz hung back while the others continued on, they opened the bulk head and almost 1000 orks gunned them down in seconds. Gaz managed to survive long enough for reinforcements to arrive. He was injured, but still alive.
He was brought back by movement all over the room, he looked up to see the inquisitor standing just before him. He gave a quick salute then slouched back against the wall.

Character: Aajz
Location: Meeting room.
Situation: Waiting
Aajz noticed the guardsmen coming to attention to the arrival of Inquistor Remus' acolyte. It was typical she thought, coming to attention to the first authority figure that entered. The acolyte was small fry compared to those she had seen on the Hospitaller convent on Terra during her training for the past 12 years, a junior Inquisitor with little experience commanded very little respect within the organizations of the Imperium.
She had seen it all, the convent on Terra was a hotspot of activity due to the abnormally large concentration of petitioners who visit the convent on their way to petition their needs to the High Lords on Terra, many staying at the convent due to the nature of Order Hospitaller. It was there that she had first encountered the Inquisition of the Ordo Xenos, smuggling several captured xenos en route to Mars for further study by the Magos Biologis, and was one of the many sisters selected to aid in the interrogation. She had served under the veteran Inquisitor Vail for this reason for six long years before being reassigned to the Ordo Hereticus under Inquisitor Remus.
She suspected this odd, as this was her first time serving the Ordo Hereticus directly, and Inquisitor Vail had made no arrangements for her replacement in her own retinue. Aajz recalled that it was during an Inquisitorial Conclave where she had accompanied Vail that Remus had somehow drawn the ire of the Ordo Xenos and Ordo Malleus for some action that has been now covered up by the Lex-Mechanics of the Inquisition. After the Conclave ended poorly for Vail, she and other inquisitors from the Ordo Malleus spoke poorly of the members of the Ordo Hereticus (especially Remus). Aajz tried to not recall the foul language that was used to describe the agents of the Hereticus by both parties.
Noting that her part in this was most likely a diabolical political maneuver, she knew that there was no need to question her part in this mission. Like all things, it is most likely that all three branches of the Inquisition are moving the lower echelons like pawns in a political chess game. Nevertheless, it would be prudent for her to keep an eye out for Remus and his foundling Inquisitor...

Gore-Soaked Lunatic Witchhunter
Australia (Recently ravaged by the Hive Fleet Ginger Overlord)

Character: Avare
Loction: Breifing Room
Situation: Briefing
With a cold, calculating acidity, Avare observed Task-Force Fury. The Guardsmen, the Arbitor and the Stormtrooper contigent had rapidly snapped to attention, standing almost in unsion. One of the Stormtrooper to the side, Avare recalled the name, Trooper Gaz, had been a little slow, and had quickly slipped back into a relaxed stance. Inwardly she sneered at the man's laxity, but it wasn't enough to warrant punishment...yet.
The Engineseer, Assassin and the Hospitallier had all stood at her entry, or righted themselves if they had already been standing. Avare noticed the two Astartes, noting with anger that one still remained seated. Brother Ronan, but he had at least nodded towards her, so Avare didn't have great enough reason to berate him for the lack of respect. Besides, picking on an Astartes was pretty low on the list of smart things to do. Avare had almost forgotten Interrogator Claudius, the towering mammoth form of Brother Agyapus blocking him out almost entirely.
"Take a seat." Avare gestured towards the large circular table at the centre of the room. At the centre of the stone table, it's workings carved from basalt, there lay a hololithic display, its circuits and machinery built into the the table itself. When everyone had taken their seats, Avare remained standing. Walking slowly to her place.
"Holocommand, display. Verification Patra." Avare intoned, respectful of the Machine Spirit residing with the creation. After a few moments, the hololithic display powered up, the lights flickering an eerie green weavery to create the three dimensional image of a towering Hive City. The spire, within the city's centre, soared above the rest of the sprawling hive, challenged only by the Basillica of St. Sebastian to the Hive's west. Beyond these two massive structures few details could be made out.
"Hive Augustine." Avare addressed the members seated at the table. "On his pilgrimage to Ophellia, the traveller Marcus described it as 'a wretched hive of scum and villany'. From what I''ve been able to ascertain, he was completely correct. Only the upper levels contain even an appearence of civility anymore, and that is more due to the private security forces of the nobility than Imperial Law." Avare nodded to Proctor Jager "The Arbites gave up on the lower levels long ago. We can have little idea of how much crime exists becuase any crime that does occur isn't reported, and is never investigated. If it happens in the sub-levels, the Arbites don't want to hear about it."
Several of the team members scowled, no doubt thinking that a healthy dose of righteous holy promethium and bolter fire was in order for such a decrepit squalor of criminal habitation. Avare agreed with them heartily, perhaps, when this mission was over and she earned her Inquisitor's laurels, she would return to Augustine. A short visit from the Ordo Hereticus would probably straighten things out. There was little time for that now, however.
"The Emperor works in mysterious ways. It is our good fortune that this wretched lawlessness works in our favour today." Avare received several odd looks. "Let me explain. The sub-levels are ruled by gangs. Often these gangs, when not envolved in territory disputes with other criminals, look to earn income however they can. A favourite way of doing this is to blackmail the nobility, and it just so happens, as you will remember from the Data-pad you recieved, that our target affilliated with one of the nobles on this planet. We have yet to identify who." Avare allowed herself a wicked grin. "But we are very close to finding out."
"Our informant in the sub-levels reports that a manservant, positively identified as belonging to this traitorous noble, has been captured by, or has sought refuge with, we're not entirely sure, a gang in the sub-levels." Avare paused, observing the expressions on each members face before continuing. "We've lost contact with our informant. A recent surge in gang warfare has resulted in a cease in communications. We don't know which rival gang our manservant is currently in the hands of, so we'll be splitting up."
Avare gestured towards Slavro. "Sergeant Slavro will be in charge of Team B, callsign Fallen. Your mission will be to observe. Observe." Avare stressed, "Watch over the aggressor gang, the Crimson Jackals, and their hideout. Engineseer Mikal will set up the observation machinery, their machine spirits must be appeased if we are to accurately observe the comings and goings of the gang. Trooper Wilson will provide...protection, for your observation post. Snare mines and other trip wires should prevent any undesireables from interrupting you. Interrogator Claudius, Trooper Gaz, Trooper Furn, as well as Brother Agypus and Brother Ronan, will accompany you. I don't expect this to go to hell, but if I give the signal I expect you to be ready to cut down the Crimson Jackals to a man."
The Furies she had named nodded in response, their looks a mixture of boredom, apprehension and downright glee at the prospect of a scrap. Avare turned to the others.
"The rest of you will accompany me, Team A, callsign Regent to the hideout of the rival gang, the Yellow Dogs. According to the latest reports of our informant it's a place called Serena's. Our goal will be to discreetly make contact with our informant. If possible, we will aquire the manservant if he is still in the hold of the Yellow Dogs. We'll use violence if neccessary, but if we can simply buy the manservant off them that will be prefferable, less chance of any harm to our best lead."
The holothic display powered down and Avare stood back slightly, observing Task-Force Fury with that same frosty, challenging glare she had worn when she first entered the room. "Any questions?"
((OCC: And yes, don't hesitate to ask questions.))

Gore-Soaked Lunatic Witchhunter
Australia (Recently ravaged by the Hive Fleet Ginger Overlord)
|
Character: Avare
Location: Briefing Room
Situation: Answering questions
Avare nodded as the questions came. They were solid questions, it showed the team was taking this seriously. A good sign.
"You're to do nothing, Trooper Furn. I don't care if they are dragging the corpse of Roboute Gulliman through the streets," Avare noticed a sharp intake of breath from the Astartes, probably not the best example, "you don't make a move until my say-so. And Wilson, I didn't recruit the best damn combat engineer in the sector to give him advice on how to do his damn job, if you want ask one of the aides running around here to show you the armoury. You can pick the location when you arrive on site, it's locted within the half-completed hab-blocks. The priority of the observation post should be vantage though, not defensiveness."
Avare nodded towards Proctor Jager, raising her voice to address the rest of the team. "Our informant, due to his nature, hasn't been ble to pass on the more vital information about these gangs, but there is some data on the Yellow Dogs. They're a relatively small gang, with a small territory, no more than 15 members. The ringleader goes by the name Dalken Bras. They deal in narcotics and smuggling, pretty small time. This hostage of theirs is a big break for them. The Crimson Jackals on the other hand are a different sort altogether. They're at least twice as large, in both territory and numbers. Their market is that of human trafficking. The buyers of Yellow Dogs goods often end up as Crimson Jackals stock. Apparently this isn't the first time they've clashed, but Yellow Dogs have been coming off worse for wear." Avare paused, she didn't want her team to jump to conclusions.
"Rumour has it that whatever the Crimson Jackals can't sell off quickly enough they...sacrifice. We may be dealing with some sort of psuedo-Khornate cult here. So keep your eyes open."

Character: Slavro
Loction: Breifing Room
Situation: Being briiefed
((OCC: I bought Eisenhorn the other day, just to get in the inquisitorial mood, and they have their own secret language for messeging each other, I was thinking we could do this, and send pms instead. And is it okay too change my equipment? If we want too infiltrate a hive, Stormtroopers in full body armour w/ rebreathers etc would stand out just a bit.))
Slavro slouched back into his seat, he was impressed by that through her presence alone, she managed to diffuse the room. Kelly, Flick and Murphy each relaxed a little. They had no idea what they were going too face, and with the amount of godwarriors they had, it looked like she wanted too take a fething daemon world. But a simple snatch and grab sounded simple enough, and a good way to integrate the more....outspoken squad members.
'Snatch and grab eh? Sounds simple, do we have a positive id on this manservant? And do we have a secure escape route when it hits the fan?' asked Sgt. Slavro
'Do we have transport?' asked Murphy with a grin. Murphy was a promethium head through and through. A former Valkerie pilot, he covered Remus's escape many times.
'How do we get in?' asked Kelly.
Slavro looked at Kelly, for a Catachan he had a very tactile mind. That was the big question. How the feth do we get a small army into the underhive unnoticed?.

Character: Soric Ghast
Location: Briefing Room
Situation: Asking questions.
Soric added another one in the hail of questions at Avare.
"When do we leave for this mission?" He asked. "What equipment are we allowed to cary? I dunno 'bout the res', but I love to keep my hellgun handy for when the need is high."
to strengthen his view, he added, "I can hide the power pack beneath some rags. I think I can say that we all have to go in disguise, as a bunch of stormtroopers and an Inquisitor would be very suspicious."

Gore-Soaked Lunatic Witchhunter
Australia (Recently ravaged by the Hive Fleet Ginger Overlord)
|
Character: Avare
Location: Briefing Room
Situation: Answering Questions
Avare regarded the new questions with a glare, but chuckled inwardly.
"Do you really think I intendit to be that the Inquisition would hide from the likes of these scum? We will have no such disguise, no dress in the drabs of the commoner. We will burst down the doors of the Yellow Dog's hideout, demand the manservant, recover the informant and leave. We will offer them a chance to leave with their lives, perhaps even turn a profit, but they will have the guns of the Furies on them at all times. And even if they comply peacefully, the only witnesses I intend to leave will be corpses. And if we do not find the manservant there, we will do the same to the Crimson Jackals. If need be I will leave the sub-level in shes if it takes me one step closer to our goal."
Avare turned to Murphy. "You'll like this. We have a Valkryie, prepped and waiting on the landing pad out the back. You're flying it." Murphy's eyes widened, like a puppy with a new toy.
Avare turned back to the rest of he team "It's 2030 now. It will be roughly a 4 hour trip from here to Hive Augustine. We leave at 0400. And assassin, when I feel that you require that answer I will tell you. And not a moment sooner. A small mind is easily filled with faith."

"What a wicked waste of skill, if you ask me. We've got some good infiltrators in this team, and covert operations so happens to be one of my specialities, if I may say so." Soric objected. "It doesn't make much sense to me, but that's the inquisition for ya."
He snorted, and added, "Alright, alright, Let's get blasting then."

Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot
|
Character: Brother Ronan
Location: Briefing Room
Situation: Being Briefed
Ronan snarled when Avare spoke the words about Roboute Gulliman in such a disrespectful manner, one did not speak of such a man in that manner. "Choose your words more carefully .. Inquistitor" Ronan said in a lower but easy to hear tone. Although Ronan wanted to rip the young woman in half there and then, he knew it would be unwise. The Astartes not being answerable to the Inquistition was one thing, actively killing an Inquistitor in retribution was quite another and would hold grave consequences for hiis entire Chapter if he acted out.
"Your plan seems fine to me Inquisitor, though I shall wait to see the area we find ourselves in before making plans on how to defend it, such questions would be pointless at this time" Ronan spoke in a moderately gruff tone and lent back in his chair as he finished, the whole chair creaked with his weight as he moved.
Ronan remained seated as the others asked questions, his first thought was to get up and leave the Briefing having learnt what he needed to know, however he decided that for the moment he would stay and listen. Such an act would only further to anger the Inquisitor who he had to give a moderate amount of respect during this mission as well as the fact he thought he might gleen some insights that have not yet been disclosed.
He glanced around the room, his eyes homing in on the other Astartes, his name was Agypus he had heard. If he was going to be teamed with this Astartes it would be prudent to speak with him, the success of this mission would most likely rely on their skills alone, he mused to himself. He had never worked along side another Chapter before, and neither had his Chapter since the incident with the Tau. He wondered just what Agypus had heard of this.
