Character: Avare
Loction: Briefing Room
Situation: Dismissing team

Avare ignored Brother Ronan's outburst, in all honesty his rebuke for the talk on Gulliman had likely been reserved, but she would not stand him to lecture her on the mission. She made a mental note of that.

She nodded to Wilson. "A servitor can help you with that. And if they muck it up, no loss. Make your preperations. I'll be holding an obeisance to the Emperor at 0330, in the chapel, sking him to grant uss sucess in this endevour. Those who are like-minded are welcome to join. Team dismissed."

Slavro stood too attention and gave a crisp, perfect salute. 'With your permission ma'am, there's stuff we need too organize''

He nodded at Kelly, Flick and Murphy. The stood, saluted and followed Slavro out the room.

'About 8 hours too dust off' said Kelly as he field stirped his heavy stubber.
'Ready you equipment and catch a few, never know when our next chance too will be' replied Slavro
Murphy couldn't sit still, he was too excited about that promised Valk.

Slavro found himself a chair in a secluded part of the mansion, pushed his cap down, and drifted off.

In The depths of a Tomb World, placing demo charges.

Subject: Wilson
Location: Inquisitorial Safe-house.
Status: Prepping for Mission.

Wilson Saluted and stepped away from the table, gave Rally a respectful nod, and left the room.

First he grabbed a nearby Servant and asked her to direct him to spare quarters, there he dumped his kitbag and the meager belongs and spare uniforms it contained.

Then he was led to the armorer, where he requisitioned a servitor and spent half an hour opening and inspecting three crates of Iron Dagger tripmines, unpacking each one and checking it and sliding those that passed his standards back. Those that failed where placed aside for disposal. At the end when he signed off on their release from stores, he had three crates of twelve, and accompanied the servitor as it carried them to the gunship. There he helped the crew secure them within the passenger compartment.

"Just be sure to fly safe." he joked to the pilot, "They don't take kindly to sharp knocks."

Task completed, he wandered back into the house, idly wondering where members of the task force were supposed to get food, and intending to find something to do that would kill time before the Inquisitor started her sermon. It was always a good idea to ask for The emperor's protection before an Op, and as a man with a large tank of Fuel strapped to his back, he had more reason to ask for it.

In the Wasteland

Soric watched the others leave the briefing room, and did so himself. He picked up his stuff, and left the briefing room in search of the sleeping quarters. He might as well catch a few hours sleep in the meantime.

Lugging his gear to his bunk, he reflected on the mission team. He already had a disliking for Furn. The Astartes were...well, Astartes, and should be treated that way. The others, he didn't worry about, other then Sergeant Slavro, who, technically, held a higher rank than him. For the moment.

He got to the sleeping quarters and chose one of the available bunks as his own. Each bunk had it's own footlocker and a storage closet. It was better to unpack now, than having to do it when you need something he reckoned, and started unpacking. A recharger for his hellgun-ammo pack, spare hellgun barrels, spare parts for the gun, slug rounds for his auto pistol, an extra uniform, shaving gear,... the usual stuff. He finally came to a small package, packed away in his trunk. Without looking in it, he put it away in the storage closet. Personal stuff, he didn't want to worry about it now.

After spent some minutes unpacking, he settled for some sleep. He set his wrist-chrono to bleep at 0200, he wanted to check his gear, get a meal and join Avare in worship in the chapel. Soric wasn't that devout, but it couldn't hurt to ask for guidance for once. And he had to make a good impression on Avare, Inquisitors should always be kept on one's Good side.

AFter some more moments of thought, he fell asleep on his bunk.

Aajz vox caster crackled over her respirator. "Lady Avare, it may be unwise for us to reveal our presence so soon and alert the underhive and nobility. They will surely attempt to hide their many secrets upon discovering our investigation"

"This may be a time for subtlety. I can produce a sedatative to introduce to the ventillation system of our targets with the help of Techpriest Mikal. The chemical will sedate all in the Hive district as long as it is being maintained and allow unrestricted movement without resistance. If you feel that this can help in our mission, then I will make the preparations immediately, however, due to the nature of the volatile chemicals, I will need to stay behind and ensure the stability of the drug. Otherwise, the sedatative can develop into a neurotoxin."

Aajz had remained after the others to ask a question in private. Good, Avare thought, that showed respect for authority.

"There's no need to worry about alerting the nobility with an operation in the sub-levels. We could carpet bomb half of the surrounding area and they wouldn't take notice. But...Sister, work on that sedative, I have an idea that may make use of it later."

"Very well, it will take several hours to complete" Aajz scuttled off to the armory. It was there that the canisters, specialized equipment and chemicals she needed was housed.

The Claw

Subject: Interrogator Claudius
Location: Chambers
Situation: Preparing for mission

Senior Interrogator Claudius carefully inspected his ornate inferno pistol, polishing the basket at the end of the barrel with a soft cloth, reading aloud from the Haereticorum Flagellum, intoning the Litany of Fury as he cleaned the barrel of the weapon. Satisfied that the weapon was in proper repair, he set it down reverently on a bed of satin cloth atop the table, reaching for his power sword next. The blade made nary a sound as it slid from the scabbard, Claudius smiling grimly as the polished steel caught his reflection. This was the same blade that had taken the life of the heretical Inquisitor Momus, spitting the struggling man through the gut as he cried his supposed innocence. The Interrogator sneered, mercy was wasted on the coward. Sliding the blade back within it's sheath, Claudius donned his armor, sturdy plate resembling that of the gothic knights of old, oiled plates fitting over his body like a second skin of iron and contempt. He paused for a moment to read the golden script engraved into his armor, reading the battle hyms quietly as he strapped his sword and pistol to his belt. Fastening the massive tome that was the Haereticorum Flagellum to his breastplate, Interrogator Narciso Claudius strode from his chambers, making for the briefing room to wait for his 'companions'.

Character: Slavro
Location: Mansion
Situation: Wasting time

Slavro couldn't sleep. Well, to be more accurate, he wouldn't let himself sleep. What with astratus and assassins wondering around the mansion, and the mysterious circumstances of their assembly, he couldn't take any chances. He survived tomb worlds waking below his feet, daemon fiends, traitors, xenos, too many too count, he didn't want to be remembered as the war hero who got his throat slit in the night.

He wandered over to the armory, intent on gathering anything he might need in the days too come. Their was an impressive array of weapons available. Helguns, lasguns, autoguns, even Astratus sized bolters. Grenades of all sizes and patterns. He picked up a few fraggs and a krak grenade. Should be able too take out anything he expected too encounter. He was startled when he saw the Sister Hospitiller in the corner. She hadn't noticed him entering, too engrossed with the vials of toxins and drugs arrayed in front of her. He left her be, and left as quietly as he entered.

Holy fething Terra! thought Slavro. He starred slack jawed at the figure striding past him. Clad in black gothic armour, with the biggest book Slavro ever seen attached too its breast, the Interrogator was frakking scarey looking. He entered the briefing room without even acknowledging Slavro. He didn't mind at all. If there's anyone he didn't want to be stuck in the same room with, it was a Senior Interrogator. Slavro quickly walked on, intent on getting some food, real food, not that Imperial ration crud.

Character: Mikal
Location: Manor
Situation: Making mission preparations

Mikal walked outside after the meeting had concluded, he found it quite informative in regards to the specifics, but asked no questions as he now knew what was required of him. Reconnaissance work, it was something he had done before on multiple occasions with the Guard. One thing that he enjoyed about it was that there was no clear cut method for retrieving information, yes there were several methods that were optimal but such delicate work required and equally delicate hand and an open mind. Something that not a whole lot of Mikal's associates in the Mechanicus had.

As he contemplated the ways he would accomplish his task and continued to stroll around the manor, he saw the trooper Wilson sending off what appeared to be crates of munitions in a parked gunship and returning toward the Manor. Mikal remembered that the trooper had had questions about the specifics of the observation post's defenses. Mikal knew for a reconnaissance mission to work, they had to be subtle, inconspicuous. An idea forming, he walked over to the trooper, his power axe in hand, and greeted him.

"Tell me trooper, I understand you had some concerns about the defensive nature of the post we will be working from."

Wilson. answered in the affirmative.

"I assure you there is no reason to worry, if the Lady Avare's plan goes accordingly then we will have no need for defensive measures, however..." Mikal put a stress on this last word. "You and I both know that militarily speaking, plans almost never go completely accordingly. Therefore my question to you is this: I will have no problems with the setting up of the surveillance systems required, but I am sure that it would make everyone on the observing team feel better if I aided you in the construction of our defenses. Do you agree?"

Character: Aajz
Location: Chapel
Situation: In prayer.

It had taken her a total of three hours and forty two minutes, far longer than she expected, but then again, she had gotten carried away and produced a wider range of chemicals than originally intended; there were a wide variety of chemicals, all neatly labelled in their canisters.

Having finished her preparations, Aajz made her way to the shrine of the Emperor. As a member of the ecclesiarchy, she was compelled to pray to the Emperor when she could, faith being of utmost importance to the sisterhood, regardless of rank. She would spend the rest of the time before the mission in quiet solitude at the Chapel.

Character: Brother Aygapus
Location: His quarters at the manor.
Situation: Being unable to concentrate.
I should not be thinking like this, Aygapus told himself.
It was true-he was an Astartes. They were meant to be living weapons of the divine Emperor, beyond the concept doubt. But the truth is, something was making Aygapus feel uneasy. It wasn’t that the plan was bad-far from it; it seemed like a sound course of action, though he did query why Avare had thought it necessary to assign both him and this Ronan to the same team. What exactly were they expecting to be facing down there? Although she had been Remus’ Acolyte for a long time now, Avare was far from infallible-evident through the poor choice of phrasing during the debrief, slandering the name of the holy Primarch Gulliman. It had been all Aygapus could do to not repeat his cousin’s outburst.
Or maybe they were brothers after all. It was difficult to know with the Minotaurs, since unlike some other chapters whom could trace their origins back through the millennia, the Minotaurs did not know which of the mighty Primarchs they were descended from. In truth, Aygapus had never really cared-he did the Emperor’s work, and that was enough. He worried about the Elite Guard though. He suspected they were an Ultramarine successor, and the two brotherhoods had never been on best terms in the past-in fact, the Minotaurs have in the past issued a public insult to Marneus Calgar. Aygapus did not regret his chapters’ actions-far from it-but the inbred hostility may well prove counterproductive to the mission at whole.
In truth, something else was bothering Aygapus. Although he had never had much dealings with Arbites in the past, and could not speak for their character, it seemed unlike any servant of the Imperium to merely ‘give up’, especially on an area of their home world. From Avare’s description of it, the Crimson Dogs seemed to number only about 50 members-how could one gang, even if they were Blood God cultists, prove so dangerous? Unless…
No. That was ridiculous. It had happened once, and now he was jumping at shadows. It was not logical to assume that they were responsible for every problem. Stop being a bloody fool.
Aygapus sighed, stood, and moved to sit on his cot bed. He wondered whether he should go and speak to Ronan. He dismissed the notion…the Elite Guard did not seem to be particularly chatty, and to be honest that suited Aygapus and the Minotaurs just fine. If Ronan wanted to talk, he could bloody come himself.

Character: Brother Ronan
Location: A Spartan Room with a bunk
Situation: Readying himself

Brother Ronan had given thought to simply waiting in the transport to save time, however in hindsight he decided that meditation would serve him better. He placed his Boltgun on the trunk at the foot of his bed, a deep red cloth draped over the trunk to ensure his boltgun wasn't muddied by the dirty trunk lid.

He knelt before the trunk, offering prayers to the Emperor and said rights to appease the machine spirit. As he finished his prayers he pulled from his belt container a small box, opening it he flicked through the contents with his large and clumsy fingers. At the bottom was a picture, which he pulled out to examine. The picture was of his family, the family he now left behind when he became an Astartes. The picture was more than just a sentimental keepsake, it was a reminder, a reminder of how important his sacrifice was in order to rid the galaxy of his enemies. He replaced the picture and closed the box, returning it back to his belt and started another prayer, asking for the Emperor to watch over his homeworld and his Chapter who were sworn to protect it. The memories of the Maggroth incident and his homeworld in flames still haunted him to this day, as it did most of the Elite Guard who all traced their lineage to the Homeworld that still wore the scars

His thoughts turned to his brethren, the meeting where the Chapter Master had detailed this mission to him and the task he was to carry out while under the charge of Inquisitor Remus. Ronan had noted that he had not yet seen Remus, only Inquistitor Avare had been on hand, perhaps she would hold some answers to his questions. But one did not just question an Inquisitor, especially on such a sensitive subject. No, he would bide his time, perhaps she may even prove forthcoming with the information he seeks when she learns the reason he seeks it.

He looked up, as if broken from his prayers by a realisation. "the hospitalizer" he mused in private thoughts, "she may prove useful to my goals ... if she is willing" and with that he returned to his prayers.

Wilson greeted the Tech priest that intercepted him before the manor doors with a friendly nod, and listened keenly as Mikal offered him his assistance in defending the OP

"Of course," he said, scratching his cheek as he looked back over his shoulder at the Valkyre they would be taking to the dropzone, "I know that keeping quiet is key on recon missions, but if worst come to worst we're probably going to be out numbered, the mines will only be placed to defend against them storming our position. Here, i've had a few ideas."

He pulled out his data pad and fiddled with it for a few seconds, drawing a makeshift map on the display and showing it to the tech priest.

"i've got three dozen Iron Daggers loaded and ready to go. Now, say that this circle is the OP, depending on the sounding area, i'll set up three minefields, here, here and here, labeled Alpha, Bravo and Charlie, in front towards the Gang hideout and both flanks, but i've not enough to rely solely on the mines for defense, and our rear is wide open. Can't be helped, we need a fallback route if things go south. so placement of personnel is key. Any suggestions you can offer on that, Iron Preist?"

Seeing as how half of the retinue fall under the "purge on sight" category, it's going to be tough in those situations when you might have to reveal that you're a mutant without, y'know, being killed by half the team.

So they are tolerant of mutant its only the wild rampit mutations that fill the chaos ranks that they hunt. But they do discriminate against the accepted ones.
