What kind of a review only compares a "new" product to one that is pretty much aggreably on the bottom of the stack...

Maybe I'm just getting more critical or grumpy as I age .

it's a point of reference which pretty much everyone knows. that counts for something. and really, he's reviewing the GW foam dimensions replacement tray from KR. that's only of interest to those who want to keep using their (indeed bottom-of-the-stack) GW cases, or perhaps for the giftsforgeeks bags (which are okay but nothing special), but not for any of the other brands as they pretty much all use different dimensions. so really, for the target audience, it's an ideal comparison

So, question for anyone who has one of those tablewar cases - how the feth do you keep models from toppling? I see it has Fantasy regiment syle trays for holding models with various sized bases, but some models (I'm looking at you, Hormagaunts) are so unbalanced that they're going to be falling out of their slot.

I mean, it's good as a portable display cabinet, but for any kind of transporting, it just seems really impractical.

The trays come with tin that you line the bottom with. Stick a magnet to the bottom of a base and your models stand up and don't rub against anything.

There are trays with circular base sizes for every base size in 40k bar the large oval.

The trays then slot into the display boards on each shelf. Or you can magnetize the entire display board and not bother with the trays.

For vehicles having a pin systems or magnetizing them works.

You need to magnetize bases? Heh, guess that means I'll never get one.

All those Tyranid players must love it when their Hormagaunt/Termagant ankles end up breaking from the pressure then taking them out of the magnetized trays.

Really?
I've had about as exact opposite an experience as you could expect. Every communication I've made with them has seen a next day response. Not only that, but they've been proactive in communications, addressing things I was unaware might be issues.

I know personally, ive been looking to replace my GW case, blasted hinges decided to break on me.. I've mostly been looking between KR and Battlefoam. My leanings are towards a KR case, the card case, nice and cheep, i dont think i really need the hard case, if i store it where the kid cant be climbing all over it. Plus added to that, i went to a store that sold both, Boy was he trying HARD to sell me on the 1750.. fully loaded.. sorry but i dont have $300 spare to spend..

Oh stop complaining, its for the greater good... Now get in the box!

The nice thing about KR's system is that you can buy a whole bunch of the cardboard boxes to store your armies in all the time, then you can just buy one bag and only take the boxes that you need.

Rereading some of my posts in this thread I've realised that I've come off alittle hard on KR, so I'll just go into alittle more objective assessment.

Personally I have a ton of foam. Everything I have goes in foam, addmitadly this could be because I'm at the point in my life where I have more money then I do time and while I can afford the foam to store minis I can't afford the time to have to repaint or repair them. Anyways all of my foam comes from two companies, either Battlefoam or KR. Each of them have their uses and each of them is awsome in different ways. Battlefoam is best used for large, oddly shaped or physically heavy armys, becuase of this most of my Games Workshop armies are in Battlefoam. This comes down to the actualy foam the Battlefoam uses for their trays, their foam is stiffer and the backer is more dense then other companies, this allows the tray to support more weight without crushing or the bottom falling out. KR is great for mostly plastic armies, small game systems and armies that you don't bring out very often. The beauty of KR is that their cardboard boxes are fairly in expensive. What I did was to buy a bunch of the cardboard boxes with fairly general foam and one of their bags. I label whats in the box and if I want to bring something I just have to grab that box.

This Last Ard'Boyz we had 2 Bug players using the Full-Size case at our local store, that's 2.5k of Bugs and they both had 60+ Hormagaunts in their cases. They both seemed to love the fact that they could just pull their 20gaunt tray(s) out, walk to the other side of the board and deploy them in a blink, and so did their opponents. My one buddy with his bugs was ready to move on to the next table within minutes after his game ended and told me he has not accidentally left a bug on the table since he started using this Tray system.

That said, I have not heard of any models breaking due to the magnets. I'll have to ask my buddy but he is pretty vocal about that stuff. I am sure I would have already heard about it if he had those issues.
