Huh, this is quite ... interesting to hear. Now, I wouldn't consider myself a fan of THQ, but they did a number of very cool games and I think I would indeed miss them on the market.

Let's hope that this statement posted by THQ isn't of the same kind as that "there's no reason to panic, everything will be alright" speech that Realtime Worlds gave for APB - 2 days before their servers went offline and the company was closed down.

LordofHats wrote:Red Faction is probably one of the reasons THQ is suffering. The old flagship isn't pulling the weight it used to.
Yeah, that's what you get when taking a perfectly awesome open-world game and make its sequel a tunnel shooter. Whoever was responsible for this design decision: get out.

As for DoW2 ... no Sisters, no buy. Soulstorm remains my favorite, even if I'd have preferred a proper story campaign with some more content than just a number of skirmishes.

so i think the better question that hasnt been answered is:

i did some research to see if thq stock was plummeting, its going down, at a steady rate
but its gone down like 80% in 2007, what happened in 2007? warhammer online (?)

first the linky to what im going to post, from Gamasutra the online free version of Game Developer Magazine.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39670/Analysis_THQs_financial_troubles_may_get_worse_before_they_get_better.php

As of Tuesday morning, shares of the industry's fourth largest third-party publisher were trading at just 66 cents. They've hovered under $1 since Dec. 8, two days after the company lowered its revenue guidance. That's 26 trading days below the buck mark.

Once that number hits 30 trading days, things are going to get messy. Assuming the NASDAQ market follows its usual protocols, it will send a deficiency notice to the company after hitting the 30 day milestone – the first step in a possible delisting of the stock.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39655/THQ_shoots_down_2014_cancellation_rumors.php

THQ said Sunday evening that despite rumors circulating on Twitter, it is not cancelling its entire 2014 lineup, or ceasing development of its major MMO, Warhammer 40K: Dark Millenium Online.

"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO," said THQ spokesperson Angela Emery in an email to Gamasutra on Sunday evening.

"As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets," she added. "As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward."

So Saint's Faction?

Well, it's pretty much the same timeline, anyways.

Though I have a hard time picturing the Third Street Saints on the red planet. On the other hand ... it could become deliciously cyberpunky.

Man, a cyberpunk sandbox game with RF:G's destruction physics?

The trailers would have to come with free kleenex.

And who said women weren't allowed to use kleenex? Why should they have to use own-brand 0.5 ply stuff?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Touché...

My original question still stands though.

Also, I want a remake of planetside.

Oh wait!

I was referring to other people watching it, not myself.

I don't cream myself over trailers like some people do lol. Maybe a demo, but do they even make those anymore?

Space marine is the only game I have seen in like, 2 years that had a demo out before the actual game release.

There was also Dragon Age 2. Incidentally, it convinced me not to buy the game (at least not for its release price) rather than to buy it.

And considering it came out for pre-orderers first, that was more just to give fans a taste of what was to come, and get them all excited over the game.

By the way, the Saints did show up on the red planet, sorta. One of the two finales in Saints Row: The Third is a delightfully campy romp around Mars fighting Killbane's forces.

That's the point of releasing a demo before hand.

I misread that. I didn't read the "before the actual game release" in the original post. My brain thought he said that it was the first game he'd seen in 2 years that had a demo, period.
