Might test it out on something then, painting black isn't my strong point.

It does a little.

Found some sprue the same width and the main body of the blade so it'll be good practice either way.

There, thankfully after finding the Daemonic runes there turned out to be pretty easy for me to write. Funnily they look neater than when I write in english.

Either way this will probably end up as an objective marker with a little work. Maybe an emblem thrown on the top.

Looking good, amazing how much this has come on since i was here last, very nice, as for the runes they look good, the glowy pink is very effective. Hope its as easy on the proper blade.

that style is very good looking... i had to laugh as i read that writing part of yours...lol...

and it will be a good looking objective marker... good luck wioth the sword then... by the way... what is the basecoat for this trail piece? i see the pink but the main color is somewhat difficult to discern

Thanks.

Vallejo Squid Pink, 1:1 Squid pink and skull white, skull white. Main colour is just chaos black, I guess it's just the way I took the picture. But for these pictures I wasn't bothered moving the test runes so they should be easier to see.

Not sure if I should leave the back arms the way they are or maybe fix them up a little with GS at the joints. The rest of it however is done, too much more and it'll become cluttered. I also added another thin layer to the armour to smooth it out a bit, it also let me sculpt the pattern I originally intended to.

not so sure about the horny trinkets (hurhurhur) but the overall development looks very good...

by the way... are these just runes in general or did you hide a clever message for the ones in the knowing there?^^

Had to add one to the other horn, it was lonely.

Yep there is a hidden message in there. A line from a song translated into syllables then approximated into the syllables the runes have according to the Chaos Hordes book. Roughly translated it reads "Screaming is just vulgar". It did go a little into the daemonic language on the same page, but I couldn't be bothered with it. I might add the same line on the other side, or go with a different one haven't decided yet. I've also figured I could inverse it and do the runes in a copper and have a glowing sort of blade, but I'm not that sold on it yet.

As for the base I've been looking around at what I have and I can either put a dead tree onto it, perhaps seeing if I have some finer flock for moss. Or I could try cutting up some aquarium plants I have and forming a bush. The first will be easier as for both I'm going to have to paint them anyway.

i knew there was a hidden meaning to it^^

as for the base... hmmm....have you thought about a lava base? or would that be totally out of the way of your other army models?

Probably a bit out of place. I could just leave it with the rock in the middle adding enough to it.

well of course it has to fit into your general basing concept!

Hopefully it stops raining so I can prime it. The way I usually update these are usually about a day behind the actual work, though for these WiP it's more as it goes. With the rain it might be looking at an update the day after tomorrow. -.-

May as well just start painting up another Daemonette instead.

Well I managed to get a gap in between the rain of about an hour or so. Waited for 30 mins then rushed out and primed both the KoS and Herald. Thanks to the other thread though I've been playing Fallout New Vegas a bit so I guess this can be one of the rare stage by stage paint WiPs I do; since I usually just marathon through painting a model from start to finish.

Also I suppose it can gradually build up to me making a tutorial for the skin tone or something.

Nothing down but the Deneb Stone base so far. Looks like it has a purple tint as I used the purple brush and I guess I hadn't cleaned it 100%. Though it's an accident I like it, shame it won't be around by the end of it. For the "cloak" I'm thinking maybe black or a dark grey as the hair sort of goes over it making the two blend in a bit too much if I go with the usual scheme and with the claws I can't really do a dark purple. The trim on it though, maybe brass like this.

Washed down dark as it is but, if space allows, with runes painted in the highlight colour on it. The sword, I'm thinking the same but with it being a dark metallic with the edges highlighted to look sharper. Like these a little I guess.

Hard to find a good picture of it that isn't a Katana with that wavy pattern. I think it may suit it more to sort of fade a bit back to the base colour with a highlight of the base. Not to mention the ridge I hadn't really noticed until priming that may take away from the runes. Perhaps it'd be better off to do a smaller rune in the empty space it has at the top then making that ridge glow instead. The runes could then be those ones for the cloak or something. The harder version is just doing them smaller and on the edge around it, but it may make it too busy in the end. If I go with OSL in the ridge, to brighten it up a little more I'd do the same to the skulls' eye sockets instead of painting them as normal skulls.

Good thing about taking it slower I guess is I have more time to think about it.

this will look so cool once finished... it is even now looking sexy yet menacing like hell....the skin tone is the topselling factor here....

as for the blade... well.. i am not much of a help here...being the sub par painter myself. so if you are able to do it like the knifes you showed ...that would look good! also the brium of that coat...yeah i can see this would be looking good too!

lol...i think i will also be lost to FO3 soon^^

Be sure to get the game of the year version and on the PC. Much less limited than on the console.

Skin got an additional Deneb Stone coat on the more raised areas (helps the glazing later on). Keeping sure to sort of fade at the sleeves. It'll help later when I use the same effect as the stockings here.

Once the Deneb Stone was dry it was time to carefully paint all areas that were not going to be flesh black. After that all areas that are to be pink or purple were based with Liche Purple, though not too much on the non-pink areas to let the black through a little. As usual all the OSL is left to last. Sort of annoying as screwing it up screws up a lot.

Maybe the next one, I seem to be going away from using the gallery's auto adjust for some colours; it just messes with them.

Hopefully these should be a little brighter.

With the first layer of pink up the model is ready for the glazes, so figured now would be the time to do the base of the cloak as well. I'll use blank ink on it to give it a slight glossy look in the end.

May have also noticed the purple areas get a light drybrush of the pink as well. This is to give foundation to the highlights after the washes.

the pink drybrush really brings forth the many details of your added sculpts! i really like how you see this model through!

A few updates on it today.

Firstly all the pink, purple and flesh areas were given a wash of Leviathan Purple. The stocking areas got a wash of Badab Black.

The flesh was then given a light drybrush of deneb stone. The pink was given a light drybrush of pink, then blended with 1:1 pink and white. The reason there's no pictures between them is that it relies on the paint still being wet, allowing it to dry would likely make the blending a little rougher. The stocking areas were included with the flesh. Using a fine detail brush Leviathan Purple was applied into the recesses such as the space under the the armour at the chest and legs.

The stocking areas were then washed with some watered down black ink; being careful to avoid pooling as it'd destroy the effect. All the flesh besides the stocking areas were then given a light watered down wash of Leviathan Purple in preparation for the final highlight to come with the next update (the model's left thigh however already had the highlight done to show the contrast between the two). The metallic areas were painted black, then based with straight Dwarf Bronze. The shoulder fur was drybrushed grey then white.

Maybe I should still highlight the stocking areas at the same time as the flesh in order to make it look less flat. Also rather than going with a dark blue metallic look for the sword going with a dark purple one.

the left tigh has a very sexy centrefold touch now to it! very good...the washes did y wonderful job...specially like the idea of the

gives a nice shadow!

also...the broze is looking very cool! you are totally on the right track with that model...by the way...have you decided on the color scheme of the horns and those backside pincers?

Started applying wash like that a little while back with the SoB and have liked the look it gives every time. Even though it's subtle at times, I think every model except the first two in this thread have it done that way.

For the horns and claws, same dark purple as the claws on the Daemonettes. Hard to see, but they just need their highlight and they'll be done. I need to do a top down and side shots for them sometime.

Thanks, I'm a fan of your Tzeentch conversions.

Almost complete now, mostly because I didn't do as many step by steps for this.
For some of the bronze areas it was drybrushed boltgun then washed purple. At first because I couldn't be bothered getting out the sepia wash but also as a curiosity, though it seems to have worked out nicely. The sword got one coat of slightly watered black ink, then 3 coats of Leviathan Purple.

An idea I've had is to have the runes on the base itself, sort of "burning" into the grass, but without actually burning the grass itself. The OSL I think also may need the sources brightened a touch. The eyes for one seem to blend in a little much. The sword's face on the back also has its eyes sort of hard to see.

ha! now i have remembered why i like that model...it reminds me heavy on the draneei form WOW...no wonder she looks so sexed up!^^

and i think that wouold look totally stunning to have glowy runes on the grass... like she is casting a major spell to go with that slashing blow she is about to deliver!!! do that if you feel up to it!

and yep...the eyes could have been a bit brighter and more glowing...it might also be just the pics agian tho...

the skin looks very good...one minort isue tho... the drybrush on the backside of the right ankle looks a bit to strong...did i discribe that understandable?

cheers, vik
