One of Argentina's claims is that the people are British natives. Some-one suggested earlier that this may not be the case and some of the original settlers may actually have been from Argentina.

I think Jeremy Kyle may just have an opening on to the international stage.

The country that has a "right" to the Falklands is the one that is willing to back it up with military power.

Thats in the UK's favour then. Good luck Argentina...your gonna get your ass kicked so bad.

Hehe.

Oh wait you're serious.

Yes I am, Spain has not ever tried to settle on the Falklands. What they colonised elsewhere isn't relevant.

The Spanish ruled the Islands from 1776 to 1811.

Who controlled territory in 1776 is not exactly the argument many Americans would like to follow to it's logical conclusion

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

That's because they have scruples.

No on should have scruples.

Why don't the British just carpet bomb the few major powerplants in Argentina into a field?

No one will ever go to war over Argentina, especially if they aggressed the Falklands.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

The British don't own bombers? Well this is news to me, I guess the ones I saw the International Airshow at Heathrow airport last time I went must have been cardboard.

Argentina is no military threat to the UK. Once we get our shiny new carriers in a few years, it'll be a no-brainer.
Even without them we could easily carpet bomb the Argies into submission, the only thing that stopped us in the 80s was democratic compassion.

Thats good question isn't it. Do they? Do they have mid air refuellers sufficient for such a mission?

More importantly do they have naval cruise missile capacity? If so, who cares about bombers?

I really think that Argentina is suffering from a bad case of misplaced Nationalism, best that it's put down now.

Then again, I'm a bigger Imperialist than Lord Solar Macharious.
