I was thinking more along the lines of a lance strike (feth your hull armor...) or catastrophic damage of a plasma-containment unit or other volatile device within the ship.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was getting at. I guess I misunderstood your intended meaning, as your comment appended a post mostly related to small arms fire . . . >__>

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

I would have to go with tech marines or the Imperial navy. If that dose not float your boat then you could just go with like servitors or Sisters of Battle

PS this topic is off track with other things on the topic so lets try to get back to the current topic at hand. If you dont like it then just look for another thread.

Tech-Marines only serve aboard Space Marine starships, not ships of the Imperial Navy. The Imperial Navy, as we've already determined up-thread, has specially-trained and assigned Naval personnel who's primary function is to maintain security aboard the vessel and also function as a boarding party/counter-boarding party.

If things get really out of hand, there's the other 15,000+ people aboard the vessel to give las-pistols, shotguns and really big spanner wrenches to.
