If the blood angels and the Necrons gave eachother a fist pound once, Im sure it could happen again. According to the new fluff, they arent just

homicidal killing machines that cannot reason or communicate

Still I see no reason for any alliance except for immediate (and temporary) military gain. Necrons and BA joining forces against an enemy that would otherwise crush them both? Don't like it very much but I accept the logic. Since this thread is about alliances on the tabletop, we leave it at that.

In any other case though, why would a Necron Tomb World would EVER want to ally itself with any other race? This is more of a fluff question though, so not important for the current thread.

The one time I committed fluff genocide and made some weird alliances, I reasoned that my Overlord used mindshackle scarabs to control key orks, and thus control the boyz under da' boss.

That I can easily accept. Yet this is not an alliance but manipulation. Which is ok in an Overlord's book!

Under old fluff, that would work well.
Nids go and eat whats edible, Necrons turn the rest into sub-atomic clouds

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer: They want three things:
1-To not die.
2-To rule the galaxy again
3-Transfer their consciousnesses back into organic forms.

As long as allying with another species benefits at least one of those goals, they'll do it. The Blood Angels alliance was purely for No. 1.

Also, they can communicate. Even Immortals can communicate. All of the Canoptek creatures, though, cannot.

Necrons don't really like organics though they can do what they choose
Remember, necrons aren't all the same, many different Overlords have different personalities
For example, one may absolutely despise organics while another may see them as usable tools
We should also note that Necrons have allied with others before such one of the Space Marine Chapters (forget which one) against the Tyranids
