18 posts in over 6 years and you waste one on that?

I have a some questions about these new paints.
How well do the base colors mix with any of the layer colors?
Which would be better for mixing with abaddon black to get grey, the ceramite white or white scar?
Also are they of the same relative thickness as the older paints, so that you don't have to change the base 1:1 paint to water ratio(except dry and texture).
How well do these work with an airbrush?

1. just fine
2. Ceramite White has more pigment, you be the judge if that is good or bad for mixing.
3. About the same out of the pot as the old stuff, also 1:1 is not a hard number for mixing new paints. Not all paints are the same viscosity off the shelf, so the thinning ratio changes on a pot by pot basis.
4. I haven't been able to take any home to try airbrushing them yet, although I imagine they will work just fine as the old ones did.

I literally choked a little when I saw that price tag... seriously guys just go to AC more and get primary colors, white and black and you can mix anything under the sun for a fraction of the cost.
not to mention does anyone know if these paints are still the "made in china" might be lead based paints as the old ones?

Yet again - the paints havn't increased in price at all.

And no - these paints are not made in china.

They are produced in Manchester, England. Then shipped to Nottingham, England to be bottled and packaged.

There's a disproportionate amount of people on this site that just seem to lurk around, pouncing on any GW threads to start posting negative and elitist rubbish. If playing other games systems turns you into such a self important arrogant twerp, then I'll happily give GW as much money as they want!

I have to admit, this new paint range has intrigued me.

The wider range of tones to choose from makes me smile as sometimes getting consistancy when mixing can be brutally difficult.

I may have to pick the brains of the FW team on Sunday and get their opinions as well.

Might be lead? Where did you pluck that from? I know 25+ years ago there may have been lead paints on sale for youngsters to paint mini's with, but the staff in GW stores need Criminal Record Background checks nowadays just like any one else who works with minors because of how young the demographic has gotten. Honestly would they leave themselves open to lawsuit in such a way that is so easy to avoid?

There was some sort of health question I'm aware of my local hobby shop stopped selling their paint line. I'll have to keep digging

Please do, I have been under the impression that GW paints are strictly non-toxic because they sell them to and for children. Which i would assume as always limited the quality of paint GW can achieve - no cadmium pigments for reds and yellows for example.

Lead paint was banned in america in the late 70s, of courses theres none in Citadel. Just to show how backwards we can be in the UK, it took them until 1992 to completely ban it here.

They are nothing like inks. If you want inks, go to any art supply website and search acrylic ink.

Has anyone managed to try the snow texture paint yet? Would love to see how it is.

Or has anyone tried more than one texture paint? Are they just the same look but in different colours?

I have used Armegeddon Dust and Lustrian Undergrowth.

They both seemed to have a similar particulate matter in them, and differing amouts of pigments and 'gloopy' stuff.

Did the undergrowth give the impression of well, being undergrowth or did it just seem like the dust but green?

It's not clump foliage, by any stretch of the imagination.

I plan on using then more for weathering techniques like applying wet mud etc, than actual basing.

This clan rat has 'Armageddon Dust' on his base;

I didnt like it and have since glue some sand on and painted again with graveyard earth.
Im not really sure they were meant for basing specifically, as people have said weathering effects and mud build up might be a much more effective usage for them.
I just don't see it looking as good as what people have been doing for years now with bases anyway.

I reckon that looks quite good, would work as an added effect on terrain and what not and of course for doing a load of models at once. I just cant stand looking at blank bases and so will definitely get some of this

The eye of terror

Surprised to see any complaints about prices when they haven't changed.

My favourite new supplier is slapping 25% off on all the new paints they're putting on pre-order this weekend so I'll undoubtedly be grabbing a fair few seeing as I hadn't started painting a good few of the chaos legions I've been working on I might as well sell the old paints I had lined up for them and adopt the new line as it will most likely be stable for a good few years now. The other half is trying to push me into just getting the full range, but I'm not sure I want to go laying out that much on paints I might not even open for months.

Generally speaking aside from the usual GW hate bandwagon though the reviews all seem to be incredibly positive, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the texture paint works out for lazy tank track weathering.

It'll be fun so see what the reviews are like after the release

I've read a few reviews from people whose painting I admire and they have been very positive about the new range (excepting the metallics and the textures). I look forward to seeing the feedback when the rest of us get our hands on a few, as the only thing that really concerns me is GW's ability to bottle the paints without messing them up XD
