Albatross, normally I find your posts interesting and incisive...

You're doing it wrong.

I have warped values.

I'd take being 'paralysed by ennui' over 'blinded by unsafe drinking water' any day of the week.

Mmmm..crisis of faith. I suggest going to northern China, then crossing into Northern Korea for a change of scenery. Then you can experience third world problems first hand.

All three of the LOTR movies were awesome(especially FOTR). Were they perfect? Nope. But you can.... not be perfect, and still be awesome.

I fully expect the Hobbit films to be awesome and not perfect.

I certainly liked the look of the trailer I saw.

Yeah, the trailer looked really good, I've got high hopes for this. Hopefully they'll be showing this 2D in the cinemas, because I really want to see it but 3D makes me nauseous and headachey.

2D outsells 3D like 10 to 1, doesn't stop people saying silly things like that. "No we won't let you watch it in 2D. We're going to alienate our entire customer base and only show 3D films from now on". Yeah that sounds like a viable business strategy.
I genuinely don't understand why people complain about 3D. Just don't see it in 3D...

Whenever there's 3D 2D either comes out at the same time or shortly thereafter.

Not always the case where I am. The cinemas near me have not shown films I wanted to see in 2D, and I've not seen them as a result. Otherwise, I wouldn't care.

You can wait for rental also. Frankly I'm at the point where much of the time I'd rather wait for rental and watch it on the big screen, with Wiener Dog Command. The only real downside is if I make popcorn TBone keeps barking at me and Rodney will climb me and stick his face in the bowl as soon as I glance away (unless the big dog swats him trying to jump onto the sofa).

Often I will intentionally wait for good movies on video so I can see them during the lulls in good movies coming out.

I have not seen 3D yet, I'm saving it for the Hobbit.

I guess I'm just one of those old fashioned types that wants to go and see it at the cinema, then watch it again on my projector when it comes out on DVD.
