On topic, I love maple syrup, but I am terrified of ruining perfectly good meat by putting it onto it. Canadians! Help me out. What's the best meatstuff to try it on?
Also, Blapblapblap, you were mostly naming biscuits! Everyone knows the best thing about England is real ale and pies. You guys got that market cornered, no joke.
(Heh. My bit of Gaeilge up there might actually translate as "Irish sausages are the biggest!" *facepalm* )

For bacon I just cook it as normal and pour it over bacon, american pancakes and maple syrup is a pretty standard breakfast. If you skin some sausages, mix the meat with an egg or two and some flour then fry the little sausage patties in bacon fat those are also good with maple syrup.
As for with chicken, I'd mix some maple into the glaze (also is good with ham and pork joints) and baste it over while cooking.

I'd hate to think of your cholesterol levels...

Now, now. Every Canadian knows that while we hold the rest of the world hostage with our monopoly on the maple syrup supply, it's with Beaver Tails that we'll actually take over the world! Nothing in the world compares to a beaver tail!
Oh, and if you think maple syrup is good, you need to try out chocolate maple cream cookies & maple suger candies! (you brits can't hold a jellybean to a real Canadian maple suger candy! )
Nothing in the world compares to the beaver tail except...
Which when you read about it sounds like a weapon of some sort. Probably the venom and electroreception (that thing Frazzled would want daschunds to have) parts.

Isn't enlightenment grand. How does it feel knowing that all this time you were basically putting the pus from the infected genitals of an 80-year old necrophiliac on your pancakes and/or waffles?

Thats pretty much the difference right there. Yea, enlightenment is awesome
My Canadian girlfriend* has a terrible secret in her family. Her father and sister prefer the fake stuff. Naturally I can't name names, since they'd lose their citizenship.
*Not made up, we don't use Canadian for that here.

Toad in the Hole
Real Sausage
I could go on and on...
None of which, aside from the sausage (and German sausage is better) really sticks out to me.
How much of it have you tasted?
Ever ate Pig Skin? It's delicious!
Are you talking about cracklings? You know that's not just a British thing, right?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, yes KingCracker, real maple syrup is awesome, and I'm honestly a bit surprised it took you this long to discover it.

Sure, but still, it's typically a european idea, rather than those crazy yanks....

If you say so. Maybe it's a regional thing, but I'm American and my family used to make our own cracklings every year since I was a kid up until just a few years ago. I figured it was just a rural thing, not particularly originating from any country. It just makes sense if you're butchering your own hogs, you might as well use the skin too (particularly when it's delicious).
