Turtling is plenty fun. For me, at least. Menoth especially is adept at it, especially with their overlapping buffs. Figuring out how to break the turtle is like a puzzlebox, trying to open it in the right order. I enjoy the challenge, but then again I play Cryx, so attacking from around corners is a hallmark of the army.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

I'd say it's more akin to suggesting the veteran player doesn't take white, which seems reasonable to me.
But I think it's really less about the list and more about the attitude anyway. His opponent wasn't very constructive it would seem.

As for p.5, well, from what I hear it's not entirely innocent. They didn't include that "p.5 is not an excuse" bit in MkII for nothing. I know "Play like you got a pair" is intended to be a slogan, i.e. catchy and simplistic, but I've come to associate the phrase "a pair" with a saddening tough-guy attitude.

In spirit, it does make for a very positive and healthily competitive attitude, as Skylifter said. I make a point of being a pleasant person overall, but I like the idea of giving my all at any time (truth be told, it's my default setting) and I think the two are completely compatible.

That is too bad. Maybe there is no French translation for "Curb stomp." Being an American game, I often think little about how the game works in other countries (or even if it gets exported at all.) Now I'm curious what the Brits think of it. I'll bet it's popular in Deutschland, though.

Heh, none that I can think of !

Mind you, there actually is a French version for Prime. What we don't have, as far as I know, is Press Gangers.
I heard the game had a following in Japan as well.

It sure is. Personally, I prefer the good old axe-to-face approach over curb-stomping. Less insulting, more destructive. Or, to paraphrase the immortal words of Minsc the Rashemen Ranger, "Axe, meet enemy. Enemy, meet Axe."

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

I have heard good things about the German players but I'm yet to meet any of them. The Brits though, we do seem to love Warmachine but GW has an official store in every city and most towns. Thus the FLGS generally isn't that local and survives via mail orders. Around the UK is a solid core of tournament goers who will travel to the big events (not conventions, 6/7 round weekends). They'll have local clubs with many more players who don't go to tournaments. After that it's hard to get people away from GW when they have invested so much time and money.

Sorry if this post isn't that coherent btw, playing in the UK Masters event wipes out my brain.

Next time I go overseas I'll have to pack up my Cryx army and visit, then. If for no other reason than to fire off my Reaper's Harpoon Launcher and shout "KOMMEN SIE HIER!"
