In the end it is your time and your money so play what you like.
That being said i think the game has far more to offer than powergaming netdecked armies/uber-competative tourney-style play.
The game can also be very enjoyable as a vehicle for story-based/scenario play, fluff based campaigns, historical refights, etc., etc.
I find that ultra-competative play sucks
th life out of the game and seting, but to each his own...
Agreed. The game is supposed to be for fun. New players need a little bit of coaching regardless of a tier one army or not. A setting is provided by both players and should be encouraged by the more experienced one.
It is important how you represent yourself to others regardless of what hobby. To the
TO. If you are using a tier list because you feel that you lack the skill in winning then be prepared to be beaten badly by a seasoned veteran who knows all of the tricks of the trade. If you are a decent sort of person then let the vets in your area help you out on how to play with that list. The next suggestion is to try to use all of the units in your codex and get used to them, including their weaknesses. This will give you an idea on how your codex works entirely. This also will give you a reason to play more fluff like armies for casual and sometimes competitive play.
