So I tend to play teir 1 army lists. I play Wolfstar lists and Drago Wing as of right now. However heres my question, I am a terrible player so I try to play the best army to make up for my lack of skill. Does this make me a A$$%@&*?

If you HAVE to ask, then there's your answer.

I play GK myself, but both the rules for Drago and his fluff make me want to toss my cookies. And the model didn't help. So whether it works or not is irrelevant to me as I'll not use him or his rules as a result.

It also sucks to be on the receiving end of these armies. It's supposed to be fun for BOTH of you. So if you enjoy getting curbstomped, take up S&M, not wargaming.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

No, but it's a little uninspired. Better to try and learn from your mistakes than imitate the successes of others. In the end, it'll make you a better player.

WIth the GK's? Yes no question its uninspired. I ripped that list right from the pages of dakka. However Thunderwolf cav happens to be realllly good and be something i came up on my own, only to find out later it was a great list made up by someone else.

However both list are teir 2 in my hands so it makes things pretty even. I lost to tau with GK. Yea i know...

Well, if it's your list, that you wrote, then no-one's got any right to complain about it being the same as a popular list. They're the ones that are being jerks in that situation.

It doesn't really make you an A$$%@&*, but it doesn't really help you become a better player. You're still going to get stomped by good players and you'll stomp bad players. You've gained nothing. Think of it like video games with cheat codes. Will it make you better at the game? Or will it just be fun for a little while?

Experiment with other stuff. Ignore the net lists and invent your own style. You'll end up a much better player and you'll enjoy your games a lot more.

There's nothing wrong with playing lists you've found online. I'd rather you make up your own list, but to each his own.

What makes you a A$$%@&* is using terms like "wolfstar." Perhaps A$$%@&* is a little strong. Immature is probably closer to the truth, or just a little annoying.

I'd say no, I make the internet lists just to screw with people but I always get good sports scores at tournaments, so Im doing something right.

In the end its not the army its the player, personally I find most "for fun" players to be oversensitive and go off the handle when they are introduced to "using the rules to win". Essentially play other like minded people and warn the bunnies if they ask for a game.

Calling someone that doesn't want to play "tournament" lists all of the time a bunny deosn't make you TFG, neccessarily, but it's pretty darn close. You realize that, right?

Possibly. But I wouldn't worry about it.

As long as you're bad enough to lose a few games, most people aren't going to complain.

you will get better, faster, by being outgunned and outplayed and learning to think and use guile rather than being statistically "better"

No. But that doesn't mean you aren't. And taking those lists will have people predisposed to thinking you are, so you'll already be in the negative when it comes to other players' assessments of you.

I shouldn't think your choice of what army to play makes you a prick. I base that decision more on the way somebody plays than what army they choose to play.

Its just easier then writing the pc version of "less experienced person that enjoys laid back games that i'll have to go easy on/tone down my army to avoid them being grumpy". Pretty much no matter how it is said it implies "less good then" even saying 'non-tournament' or 'casual' gamers sounds patronizing.

Calling some a bunny is 100x worse than calling them a casual gamer. A casual gamer is very descriptive of what the player likes and is not at all patronizing to me.

it just makes you lazy. TBH I LOVE when i play someone with GK or Mech IG who think that just having the list is enough to win. There is nothing better then beating a "broken" list because the opposing player it's as good tactically.

The only way you'll get better is to play more games and honestly, the more "lower tier" armies you have, the more you learn about strategy and the better player you become.

Yeah? Using generally accepted colloqialisms makes you immature? How do you figure?

In light of this sentiment, calling people "A$$%@&*" and "immature" is probably out of line too, huh?

It's also generally accepted that "Yo dog" means hello. That doesn't make it any less immature. Nice try, though.

Why people seem to be so obsessed with the list they bring and trying to categorize it and the players they play is beyond me.

Play the list you want to play, and be a good, fun player. People should want to play you because you're a good person to play with, not because you brought a 'hard' or 'soft' list.

You're avoiding the issue by arguing that using phrasing considered acceptable within various social groupings automatically serves as an indication of puerility. Show how using either phrase demonstrates immaturity.

We get it, you hate affectionate nicknames. You can stop coming into every thread using them and complaining about it. It's as "immature" and "annoying" as you claim them to be.

Saying they're immature is just as bad as calling casual players "bunnies", IMO.

Probably.

In casual/pick-up games, if you are using a list you know your opponent cannot deal with, and refuse to play a list that they can, then yes.

Unless of course, they are into such things - I often ask my opponents to tailor lists against mine.

I tend to bring tourney lists to random game days, but I also bring a couple of other options and ask my opponent which they prefer.

Last time I had a big bug list and a swarmy/gribbly list and asked which my opponent though they could deal with better.

For example, 'demanding' to play (or mocking a player who refuses to play you with) a 5 Landraider list against an army with nothing higher than Strength 6 is asinine and childish.

"It is not the bullet with your name on it that should worry you, it's the one labeled "To whom it may concern. . ."
