I think a Chaos invasion would be pretty bland actually, what with the annual Black Crusades and stuff. (I know they're not annual but hey, whatever)

Maybe a 4th phase expansion from Tau/Necron conquest.

The Worldengine was pretty epic...perhaps another one.
Orks are already invading, so would be a bit bland too.....

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

I'm curious as to why so many feel it would end the story if the primarchs return. Ultimately, I think it would have very little real impact except for the chapters of the returning primarchs. If anything, it could create a unique dynamic within the Imperium, almost bring in a 2nd political power (the primarchs) to go against the High Lords of Terra, and while not destroying the IoM, it would certainly shake things up considerably.

In-game, the primarchs would be available to their respective chapters (and successor chapters), almost as a form of monsterous creature much like the C'Tan and Daemon Princes. If a freakin' star god on the battlefield didn't shatter the game, I don't feel a primarch's presence will. Chaos could even get their own daemon-primarchs back.

^ then again, the star-gods are just fragments now. The Avatar(s) of Khaine didn't do much either though.

Maybe if the CSM codex does come out again for 6th ed, maybe they'll put the daemon primarchs back in because most of them still live.

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

Imo to want it to progress is to miss the point. If GW finish the story it takes away from the gaming. The point of the world is a starting point for our storys. The whole background is all the forces being on the edge between sucess and total anhialation in one way or another, with the exeption of orks and nids.

People get upset with not having fluffy battles as it is. Imagine what it would be like if the Eldar were to go past the point of no return, or the big E were to return and call mankind to him, there would be people refusing to play against eldar or SM.

I'd like to see the Space Marines break from the Imperium... something could have happened where the Imperium is all like...'we totally don't need you'... and then the Chapters become their own entities not really sworn to protect the Imperium but at the same time they still battle threats like Chaos, Tyranids, Orkz, and ponies.

Maybe the Imperium will up their dependancey on the Sisters of Battle or Grey Knights (who they still would keep in their favor) or something or maybe they'll develop better armament or tactics.

I'd like to see the Eldar become a little more pirate-y like the Dark Eldar... maybe something happens to their Craftworlds and they become even more displaced.

I'd like to see the Chaos Gods/daemons and their followers really go at each other's throats more.

I'd like to see the Chaos Space Marine legions turn away from their Gods and develop more technology.

I'd like to see the Kroot and other xenos that are part of the 'greater good' break away from the Tau.

I'd like the Tau to somehow reach some kind of 'ceiling' and their tech starts failing them and they lose control over 'the greater good'.

I'd like to see Orkz become somewhat less Orky. Like somehow their technology gets better and more reliable.

I'd like to see the Dark Eldar have a stronger attachment to Slaanesh.

I'd like the Necrons and the Nids to somehow combine into something.

I'd like to see Eisenhorn and Ravenor have a baby.

I would like to see a small bit of advancement but minor things.

Killing off a few SCs for example. Going into M42. Add a major battle in the eastern fringe between Imperium, Tau, and a few others.

You could have the Imperium and the Tau as allies for a while and eventually turn on each other. Have the Black Templar and Yarrick catch up with the one Ork. You dont have to conclude the battle, just have it start

2000pts. Cadians
500pts Imperial Fist

I feel that a big thing that they could do is Have the Emperor Rise but also some of the Big 4 of chaos start to come out of the Eye of Terra Turning Cadian Space into a Conflict bigger than that of the Sabbat Sector... something so big that all of the races have no choice but to be drawn in..... Eldar and DE by the chaos Gods, CSM, SOB, All types of SM, and IG for obvious reasons, Orks Cause come on... theyd get in on that action, Necrons because of the Flare in Warp activity, Tau cause the destruction of the Imperium would not be for the greater good, and tyranids because of the high concentration of organic bitz

We've got 10K years of history for this game but it spends all it's time in the final 100 years. I would love to go back into the gap between the Heresy and the 13th Black Crusade, there's just so much that is ripe for story telling, where did the Blood Ravens come from? Are they from the same Gene-seed as the Thousand Suns? Or explore some of the myriad of marine chapters beyond the Space Wolves and Ultramarine's.

Does the story have to advance? No, but at some point a little bit of progression would be nice. The war for humanity while waiting for the arrival of the Star Child would be interesting, the fall of Cadia could certainly provide for some rich story telling.

But an endgame....not necessary if you ask me.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

May the Sons of Dorn forever be vigilant

DemetriDominov wrote:Been hearing lots of talk, no rumors, about 40k progression. The Emperor rising, Orks killing everyone, Tyrannids eating everyone, Necrons vaporizing everyone, new Chaos God(s) - the Emperor being one depending on how you look at it. A second Horus Heresy.. without Horus, Black Crusades beating (not really-more like utterly annihilating) Cadia, Tau... doing something, Eldar, extinction?

Anyway, those are some things that come to mind when I oversee the conversations about progression. Why do you want progression? Why don't you? Discuss.

One Does Not Simpily have Chaos Take the Planet with the Most Well trained Infantry in the Imperium....... i can't go having my Cadian Mech Battalion being like those sorry bastards in Gaunts Ghost ..........Besides it's to strategically important , it can't fall ! ( cadian fanboy warning lol )
